What's a fun afterschool schedule for a child?

I'd like to set up a schedule for my son when he gets home instead of just watching cartoons. He's 7 yrs old.

Answer:
-Small snack when he gets home
-Sit down and play a board game with him
-Let him watch one or two cartoons
-If he has homework, make him do a little of it
-Let him play until dinner
-After dinner make him finish his homework, take a bath, and get his pajamas on
-After he's had his bath and all that let him play until it's time for bed.
It's fun to stay at theY.M.C.A. Try a Rec center like the Y or Boys and girls club. Finally you can put you son in the NYFL (National Youth Football League) or any other sports club. Usually Rec centers offer Boxing, Karate, or Tae Kwon Do (all of which I have tried and would really recomend because it can really boost your self esteem).
karate is great and teaches him discipline
you could get him involved with some sports thru the park district. it wouldn't be an everyday thing, but a few times a week would be good. or you could get him involved with a couple of different activities thru the park district. also, check out your local public library. a lot of times they have fun activities going on over there that not many people know about.
First of all offer a snack to relax,
Then if he has homework help him do it...
then watch tv for an hour or so...
Or have planned an outside activity or unside board games...
Read for an hour that will help him too ! and then let him do what ever he wants before dinner or take a bath then eat dinner and then I guess he will be going to bed go with him and tell a small story so he can fall asleep !
I have two 7 year olds. 1 boy 1 girl. Tuesday is scouts, Wednesday is basketball, Thursday is swimming lessons. In winter they do Auskick (teaches kids Aussie rules footy) and my daughter will start gymnastics soon. they love their sports and while they enjoy them I like to encourage it. I would much rather have kids doing this and be happy than sitting in front of the TV (mind you this makes them happy too) Find some activities your son can do. If you want in the house schedule then maybe get home, snack, homework, read, play outside, park on some days, bike ride others, friends home twice a week, TV is okay but in moderation. .5-1hr a day
