Are computer games bad for little kids ?

Answer:
no
who do you think is supposed to play cp games?
No
Not intrinsically, but I'd use the game rating system to determine which are suitable - and limit the amount of time the little ones spend at the computer.
No, children have been playing video games for a good couple of decades now and the majority have gone on to become good, decent adults. Blaming computers for all the problems with youth crime is a lazy excuse for bad parenting, poor discipline in schools and problems in society that politicians don't want to address.

Obviously, excessive video games can have detrimental effects to a child's health and social life but then, anything is excess is ill-advised.
All depends on the game. Some games can be educational and help kids improve hand to eye co-ordination.
It can also put a strain on kids eyes so try limiting the number of hours kids play on them
no if theyplay them to much its not bad but still a bad idea
No, but dont let them get addicted to them.
depends on the game. violent ones are quite bad, but then there are educational one's.fun computer games should be used as treats for good work i think.
Too much of anything is bad but technology is changing so fast, that it helps if you've been brought up with a little experience of computers
My sister started to let my neice play educational yet fun games on the computer about 2 yrs of age. You know the kind, color match, shapes, numbers, and so forth. She was reading chapter books, mutliplying and doing long division in 1st grade. My neice is now 13 in 7th grade her parents were asked if they wanted her to be tested so she could skip into 9th grade {because she is doing 9th grade math, science, and english}. So I think as long as its educational there is no reason not to allow kids to play them but dont use it as a baby sitter.
no...because it helps with hand-eye co-ordination, as well as if you supervise your child, and help pick out a game for them, there is alot of educational games out there that will help improve their spelling, reading and math...etc.so go ahead and let your kid play games and have fun learning.
pros
hand eye coordination
learning
problem solving skills
stress reliever
learn computer skills at early age

cons
eyestrain
arthritis in the hand
lack of social experience
lack of exercise.
can induce violent behaviour
unrealistic views on the world.
slower concentration span
addictive
it depends on the game.

kids learn threw copying the people around them. if dad swears - they swear.

so if they play a game which involves punching people - they will start punching people.

this only applys to kids of a young age though, by the time the kids 10 he/she should be able to seperate reality from fantisy. and then again it depends on the game, if its not a violent game it will be ok

if your in doubt, check the age rateing on the game
depends on the computer game.

If you are talking about the Vtech Smile system then no, they are educational and help the child to develop.

if you are talking about things like San Andreas or Resident Evil, then yes. Children have difficulty telling the difference between fiction and reality, eg; my son is really scared by Spooky Spoon from Numberjacks and he is 6. He really believes that the character is real... no matter what I tell him.

Games like the ones I have mentioned could be very bad for little kids and my partner won't play anything that might possibly scare our children when they are in the room.
no, as long as not played all day
Well lets see, my five year old is a dab hand at most computer games,
he can move around the operating system of a pc quite easily, has deleted many of my important files,
downloads loadsa crap,
has great mouse and key control,
won't let me get edgeways on the computer, even to check my emails....I'm real proud...even if he is completely socially inept...Nah, computer games aren't bad for kids?
They are if that is all the kid does all day and there is no parental supervision.
As long as it kept a minimum, I dont have a problem with it.
My three year old loves the driving games. Usually, like most children, he gets bored after 10 minutes and moves onto the next thing!!
depends on what the game is.
Some computer games can be very good for developing all sorts of skills from language to maths and coordination.
The trick is not to use them too much. They should just be another activity in the child's life.
I suppose it depends on the child's age and the kind of game. Violent games can't be good for children whatever their age.
Hope this helped.
