I was thinking of putting my 8 year old daughter into kid's modeling, and want to know the signs?

to look out for?

Answer:
The biggest hook in modeling, whether a child or adult, is the portfolio. You do need one, but they don't cost the hundreds or thousands of dollars some "agencies" say you need. Go to a national agency. If your kid has a chance, you're not going to need mega bucks up front.

The Little Miss SomethingOrOther pageants can help. They are expensive, but relatively legitimate. She will learn how to walk and present herself. Sadly, she'll learn a lot about makeup, too. Eight just seems too young for glam makeup.

Good luck and hang on to your purse.

I wouldn't do it unless the child is keenly interested in doing it herself. I also wouldn't do it unless I was a stay-at-home-mom and could be with her every second of every photo shoot, modeling instruction, interview, ect. Personally, I think it places a false focus on external beauty that might backfire on the child later on. You might want to wait until she is a bit older and can understand what's expected of her and how to deal with rejection when she isn't selected for certain assignments or at all!
you sicken me. vicarious living through your children is wrong wrong wrong
take a look at an agency called Agency Modeling and 1 called swiss arts or something like that.
