What is a soloution?
Answer:
Make it a game. My mom is a grade school teacher and she runs into this problem all the time. This is what she does. Give them points for the pages they read. For example one point for every page they read. Set up a prize for them. If they get so many points you'll play a game with them. Or read a page for them or take them to dinner. Make sure it is something they like though. My mom said this usually works really well. If it doesn't work maybe the books aren't interesting to him. Try to figure out what interests him the most. He also may not like reading because he can't read. A lot of little kids don't like to read because they can't or it is harder for them then other kids their age. I hope this helps. Good luck.
At the end of every page he gets a little treat...Like a hershey kiss or 5 chocolate chips or a few jellybeans...Or maybe a gumball for each of you and then tell him when you each have a big mouthfull of gumballs you can have a bubble blowing contest. That would turn it into a game and make it fun...He would want to read lots of pages so he can have a BIG piece of gum ...Might work and it would definitley make it fun!
get books
You let him read in his own time. In the meantime you get books (not necessarily school books), where the pictures are interesting for him. You go through the book, you reading, and pointing out the relevant points in the pictures. Go through the same books fairly often. And before you know it he will be reading the words for himself (because he knows the story). And eventually he will be confident enough in his reading ability to read for himself.
Tell him to visualise the story in his mind!
Take him to the library and let him pick out the books he wants.
the bloblem is; your brother doesn't has confience on his self try to be friendly with him first
My kids didn't love reading either until they discovered Captain Underpants books. Young boys tend to be fastinated by farts, and other bodily functions they think are funny, so these books were right up their alley. They are also available in the school library so schools also know their value as a reading tool as well.
I'm just wondering why your Mom would hold YOU responsible for your brother's reading habits...?
this will work. tell your mom to get him a subscription to sports illustrated for kids.. also try some comic books
