Can any one help me find the Apraxia kit designed by Kaufman for under $170?
Answer:
Keep looking on E-bay.. They have everything
I am a SLP and have a child with apraxia as well. It is expensive to buy the kit and not really necessary if your SLP will help you out. My advice is this. Ask her if she will make a photocopy of the pictures and write the approximations on the back. If you're not comfortable with doing that, ask her if you can look at her box of cards. Take a look at the cards she is using for your daughter. For example, if she is working on CVCV combinations, take those out of the box, turn them over and write the hierarchy of approximations down. Then you can go to your local teacher's store or even a discount store that sells picture cards. Find similar pictures as the ones she is working on and write the approximations on the back so you can use them with her (eventually you will learn them from seeing them so often and won't need the cards and can work on them in spontaneous situations) I hope this makes sense. (Example: get a picture, photo, etc. of a cow and on the back write "moo moo", below it the next best approximation, mmm-oo mmmm-oo, below it the next best approximation which would be mmm-uh mmm-uh, then mmm-oo then mmm-uh.) Respond to this if you need specific words and I will write out the approximations you need if it will help you.
