Make a fun adventure for them.Cheerio in the bowl and have them try to sink them. A possitive renforcement system also helps. Like a piece of cholate then they use the washroom or watch their favorite program on T.V. Negative renforcement would to have them clean them selves after a movement, and through the waste away. And maybe sit for 3 to 5 minutes to think why they did not use the washroom.

GOOD LUCK! We are going through that now! They will be ready when they are ready. DOn't push it will just make it longer to be done with. Boys are diffacult. I have seen where my child will start to stran to poop, so I 'll tell him hurry run run get to the potty so you can flush it. He will sit on it for a while even though he has already went. I have caught him going by him self at time. Every time you change the dipher ask him or her to go sit on the potty you'll be surprissed at what happends.
He/she needs to have interest first. Trying or forcing the issue won't make it happen. Once they show interest, take them to the toilet every hour and when they accomplish it, use alot of praise and hugs.
when my son was being toilet training i thought i would go crazy,it took a very long time and lot's of patients .my grandma told me that children(young ones)learn from examples.this will sound weird but depending on if your 2 year old is a girl or boy let them fallow the mother (girl ) or father(boy) in to the bathroom let them see you sitting on the toilet (without exposing your self).
my son was toilet trained with in a few weeks of fallowing his dad into the bathroom.good luck.
Unless he/she is interested in using the potty I suggest you wait until 3 or close to it. When the child can talk well and tell you that he/she has to go, and understands it is the best time to start.
do it yourself to show them how, remeber if you have to hit your child an open handed slap is better than a closed fist, and it will not leave any bruising or marks.

Good Luck I am going through this with my 2 year old. I take her ever 30-45 mins. and I also tell her good job. She has gone through where she doesn't want to go but I still make her go. You just have to stay on it and keep doing. She is finally doing better and going number 2 in the toilet. Keep on it Good Luck I know what you are going through.
