Answer:
Generally speaking, in a decent sized public school there are enough students that sub-groups of various types develop within the greater student body.
Most students are not 'accepted' (i.e., well known) by everyone. Its not that they are disliked or unpopular, it's that they have their circle where they really fit in and feel at home.
Athletically-oriented kids hang out with other athletes (or even the football kids hang with the football kids, the track kids with other track kids, the swimmers with the swimmers, etc.);
nerdy academics hang with other nerdy academics (cause they know them from chess club, science club or the school paper); drama kids hang with the drama kids, band kids hang with band kids, art kids hang with the art kids; tough kids hang with the tough kids, and the generally eclectic creative types that 'don't really fit in' tend to hang together.
Each of these categories may not know alot of kids outside of their group (or only know them superficially) - how would they? The swimmers arent in band, and the science kids aren't playing football - at least not usually.
I'm not saying there isn't any crossover - there definitely is, especially with younger kids and in smaller schools.
What I am trying to do is to dispell the myth that being 'accepted' means being accepted (i.e., being well known and popular) in a large group of students.
More often, being accepted means finding your niche, being welcomed into that smaller niche, and then everyone else basically makes room for you, cause you are part of the general fabric of the school ('oh yeah, that's Jennifer - she hangs with the science kids')
So the moral of this rather long-winded speech, is - go into the new school and scout out the different types of kids and different activities that are available.
As quickly as possible, get involved in an activity that is of interest to you. It may be a project connected to a class you are in, or it may be joining in an extra-curricular activity. It may be just having conversations with the students that are talking about what you are interested in.
Another hint: Don't come in looking generic - show who you are. Bring the book you are reading, or the music mag you read, or the artwork you do, or whatever it is that you like - the more that you identify yourself, the easier it will be to find and attract the students that are like you.
When I was in school, I always liked hanging out with the eclectic creative types - the slightly misfit types that dress funky, talk/write poetry and listen to alternative music...
But hey - everyone's got their taste - and their corresponding group of people.
So don't worry about 'overall acceptance' - make it your strategy to identify one, two, then a small group of like minded kids - they will definitely accept you. Hang with them, get involved in what they do, and you will have a niche in the school as a whole.
If its a large school, so much the better - more diverse and specialized groups and activities to find your little niche in.
If its a smaller school, thats okay too - they can tend to be more accepting because everyone knows each other more.
So - in a word - Its All Good!!
Good Luck!!
.
uhh yes because we just started a new semester! we have lots of new kids!
you need to get tested by the education department
It really depends on what school you go to. At MY school you wold totally be accepted, people crowd around the new people. One new kid got popular the 1st day. But as I said before it depends on what school you go to.
if you mean socially accepted then more than likely yes. it's always a big hit when new kids come to the school and sometimes they become very popular. as for would the school accept you it could go either way depending on the school, some schools don't care when you come as long as you have a good record.
