How to make a 7-year-old clean without complaning?
Answer:
Give her something to look forward to, like a sort of prize. Or put on some music and turn it into a game.
Make a game of it somehow. I don't know of any 7 year old that enjoys cleaning up.
threaten him or her or reward her or her with a little something!
tell her sorry kiddo it's something you gotta do, the faster you are done the faster we can get to .. watching that movie, making cookies, whatever your gonna do next
Dont feel bad. Just tell her it has to be done. My 7 year old does the same thing. He acts like he is going to die though when I tell him to clean up the room. That is just how they are.
I need the answer too this one too!! I compete with my kids. First person to get their room clean wins a 'movie night' or video game time. It doesn't always work though.
I don't know if she watches Barney, but his clean up song has worked wonders for me. The children sing the song and dance around as they clean. Even the ones who don't care for Barney enjoy this or something similar that makes cleaning fun. You can even make up your own cleaning song and/or dance.
When I used to Nanny way back when, I would take 5minutes when the kids weren't around and draw pictures of the items that were everywhere. Then, I would make a scavenger hunt.
Example: Find 3 green socks. Find 2 monkeys. Don't forget those hard to see items hiding under the beds.
Each child gets a different sheet of items to ensure the whole room is picked up. To really heighten the excitement play some fun music!
Then, once everything has been picked up, drop them in the toy box yourself. And give the kids a treat. (Ice cream or Candy works best!)
bride her..hey atleast it will get her going..lol
Make a calendar. Write down a few chores for her to do. When she accomplish the chore she gets a smiley sticker. At the end of the week add up the stickers and she gets a small prize if all the chores are completed.. You can pick up alot of cute items at a dollar store. Very inexpensive and gives your child alot of incentive to do those cleaning chores...
