How do you know when your 10 year old really does need ridlin?
Answer:
well this sounds exactly like my son. He was 5 when he had his first dose of adderall xr. I have found this one to be the best and it can be user friendly to smaller children because you can open the pill, and capsulated to relase throughout the day. Ridilin has to have 2 doses per day.
But for diagnosing- find a good neurologist, have your sons teachers present and past put something down on paper and take a copy of his report cards and any documentation to the doctors so he can see other people's opinions of your son, and not just a parent trying to deal with an unruly problem (why most kids aren't diagnosed by doctors). Some parents just try to get meds for themselves after all it is legal speed. But has an adverse reaction to our little ones with ADHD and ADD.
Once diagnosed and treated you will notice overnight that little angel you never had.
What helps? wake your son up 30 minutes prior to his regular schedule give him his pill and let him go back to sleep. Usually he will wake up on his own, or you can then get him up at his normal time. For some reason absorption is much better this way.
Limit sugars and red dye items. You will find that if he has ADHD he may have an addiction to sugar. This is his inner body craving some sort of high. However this does not have an adverse reaction and only makes it worse.
Go to a neurologist right away. He is missing an important part of his life.
You will find that this is hereditary. I did not have ADHD but ADD. I barely passed through the education process. I am very smart but have a hard time listening without drifting into outer space. See if either parent or grandparent were affected. Possibly other siblings.
My daughter was diagnosed too late. The doctor missed it and now she is failing the fifth grade because she missed out on the fundamentals of first and second grade.
P.S. my son will not do any group activities and is very shy when it comes to singing, etc. He was the bully, but has a very lovable nature underneath the spastic outer shell. I just had to find him.
Ritalin? A doctor will need to diagnose him and prescribe it.
go to a doctor... i would not give my kid something that has cocaine in it
Kids don't need that crap. It's just another way for parents to drug their kids so they don't have to deal with their real personalities.
Ritalin? Give your ten year old a cup of coffee, and if they fall asleep then they maybe you should consider getting their hyperactivity checked. If they just get hyper that just means that they are pretty normal. Ritalin is a drug that is over used, and is not suitable for children at all.
get a diagnosis and prescription from a doctor
If it is true ADHD caffeine is better for them than drugs. Caffeine helps them calm down and concentrate better. Ritalin has been known to cause liver damage...it did that to one of my cousins.
Ritalin? You need to check out with your Dr's or search in your area for adhd support groups. If you are in UK I have a mate who runs such a group. E-mail me if u want her details and she may be able to help you more, even if you not in UK she may know how to get in touch with people.. Her 9 year old is on Ritalin, as he suffers from adhd.
Best advice I can give I'm afraid!
doctor first and then psychologist.. Dr. to make sure there are no medical issues and then if not then a good chld's psychologist.
Ritalin has to be prescribed by a doctor who has diagnosed ADHD...What your talking about sounds like puberty.
I would never give any child Ritalin, but, you should take him to a Doctor and find out what other alternatives they have, I know there is a new one that hasn't had any harmful effects yet and it isn't addictive, it starts with the letter C but, I don't know the name
yeah, that's it, drug-f*uck your child, then preach an anti-drug message when he turns 14. well done. that is a "disease" invented by companies who realised that parents will buy endless drugs for their children if they make "acting like a normal 10 year old child" the symptoms of the disease they are SELLING to you. the key word is BUY. you are a customer not a patient
