It is Christmas Eve and my daughter has a fever. What should I do?

She has been on antibiotics for over a week for strp throat. She has taken two different kinds (amoxycillian and cefdinir). She has been laying around all day and now has a temp.

Answer:
Give her some cild's tylenol and/ or childs advil
they say that a combination of the two is helpfull give her a dose of the tylenol then in two hours give her the advil...
a sponge bath will help too..
if anything take her to a walk-in clinic or the emergancy room
Obviously the antibiotic isn't working. Strep throat is nasty stuff. You didn't say how high the fever is, but I'm guessing that it's pretty high. Fevers do spike at night, though. If the fever is really high, I would call the pediatrician first and then take her to the ER (since that's probably what they'll tell you to do anyway). If it's not really high, I might wait. Go with your gut. Moms usually know what to do. If you think she's not acting right, take her now. Good luck.
I think you should bathe her in some cold water, the cold water helps to lower the temperature.
how old is she and how high is the temp? those are the two things that you should be checking. call her doc and have the doctor paged so he/she can tell you what to do. motrin for kids is for high fevers...it brings it down faster. tylenol for kids is for lower fevers.still call the doc.
You should stay with her in your house and give treat her and love her so she can remember it for the rest of her life and say "Remember Dad the christmas eve when you took care of me?"
YIKES!
That seems like my typical household, and my child who has asthma gets a flare up EVERY holiday.
Is she over excited?
Have her to gargle with warm SALT water. Do this twice every hour. It WILL help! The salt works like an antibacterial agent, and healing balm.
Honey with lemonjuice also helps if she dont like the salt , but not as fast.
Children's Motrim and check in 2hours to see if temp goes
down cold liquids are a must. if you've done all this call your
familly Doctor I'm sure he has an answering service. Amoxycillian
may cause fever due to intolerance(it's rare) also check her
skin because she can develope an allergy to the medicine even
if taken before.
well what you should do is bathe her in cold water, then check her temp and then calll a doctor. At least it's not 12 o' clock. Soothing also makes a child feel better.Sometimes the cold weather makes a child have diseases. If you can't cure her then just make her a christmas eve special day in her room. That makes a child feel much better.
She needs the rest, but children's motrin is the best at knocking out a childs fever. If it contiues, you will have to call her doctor, if it reaches 103 take her to the hospital because even a lo-grade fever can cause brain damage if she keeps it to long, somethingelse is wrong!
i would go to the E.R.
and when you get home in the morning she can open presents and go to bed if she wants.
it's no big deal, to kids christmas is all about the presents...you know that...

and what's more important, christmas, or your child's health?
awww, make the best of it, have her lay by u and watch some tv
give her some children's motrin
Okay, strep can be really risky and nasty. My brother has strep when he was 10 and he was also on antibiotics. He started complaining about his joints hurting and he developed a fever. His fever got as high as 103 and he was rushed to the hospital. Come to find out he had ramatic fever and was hospitalized for a year and almost died. He now has heart problems.

I would call your pediatrician and tell them she has developed a fever. Monitor her fever and ask her if anything hurts like her knee's elbows, arms, legs...anything like that, if it does, take her to the ER.
Put her in a body temperature bath and let her sit there for about 20 minutes. She will feel somewhat cold as she has a fever but it will help to bring it down. The important thing is that the water should be about 98.6 degrees (measure it with a thermometer.
This should help the pain and the fever:

Take water and heat it up as if for tea. Take a 2 tablespoons and a half of honey and mix it into the water, so it disolves. Then take a lemon wedge and let it soak in the drink for 5 minutes. Have her drink the whole cup!

Good luck! Happy holidays and good luck, try gargling salt water too!
Her fever should have been gone after 24 hours on antibiotics. I would be quite concerned if they didn't take care of it, especially after seven days. Has she been taking it regularly at the same time every day?

If the fever went away and she has a new fever, it may be that her strep is antibiotic resistant, or she has contracted it again, or she may have virus instead (was the strep verified by two tests?)

I would make her some warm cocoa, I would bundle her up on the couch, and I would make sure that I had cool, wet washclothes to put on the back of her neck and her wrists. Those are wonderful places to remove heat from the body.

The ER is going to be a terrible place right now, and I wouldn't take her in...not unless she sustains a fever over 104 for longer than four hours, while using motrin.
First, I would call her pediatrician's office. They always have someone on call, even on Christmas Eve, who can call you back. There is no better advice than a professional one. Secondly, I assume you have given her some type of medication. You should understand that a fever is just the body trying to do its job. The body elevates temperature in order to attack the foreign organisms. Unless it is above 103, you don't have to panic! Cold compresses on the forehead always made my son feel better (he is 12 and still asks for them!). Don't over cover her unless she has the chills. And finally, you can alternate medications. You can give advil, and then two hours later give tylenol. But be sure NEVER to give more than what is on the bottle. Tylenol can cause liver damage/failure, and advil can cause the stomach to bleed. This is why the doctor's path is the best path - call him/her. Best wishes for a blessed Christmas.
Christmas Eve or not. That has nothing to do with your child being sick. Take her to another doctor. Don't stop taking her to doctors, hospitals, Urgent/Prime Cares...anything until her temperature drops. You can also (not sure of your child's age, but they do NOT like this) put them in some room-temperature water and give them a sponge-bath for a few minutes. I would call your health-care provider and ask about giving some type of oral drops. If she has a viral infection, all you can do at that point is try to keep her comfortable and wait it out. If you cannot achieve a comfortable level for her, as well as yourself, I would call 911. Hope she feels better soon!
send to hospital urgently.
First, NEVER put your child in cold water when they have a fever.. This will make them go into shock. You must use luke warm water and use a rag - don't just toss them in a tub of water. Always, call the doctor first to get their advise.
I went through the same with my three kids over the weekend.. All you can do is give tylenol (motrin or children's advil) and give plenty of fluids. Allow them to sleep through it but closely monitor the child. Do not allow the child to sleep alone. If the fever goes over 103 they can have a seizure. If the fever doesn't break by morning take the child to the ER regardless of what the dr. says... Majority of the time these doctors don't like getting out of bed to go to the ER in the middle of the night but we don't either!
