What does my 9 year old developmentally delayed son feel when he has an epyleptic seizure?
I sit with him through all of these seizures, and i feel the need to know what is going through his mind, if anything, when he has these seizures.
Can anyone out speak firsthand about their experience with epilepsy? How does he seem to know when a seizure is coming on. What does he feel while he has a seizure. Does he remember everything that he did while in a seizure?
I ask him these questions, and he just doesn't seem to understand what I'm asking.
Answer:
i have seizures and im 17, i will try to explain the feeling to you...
when i start having a seizure it just feels just like im passing out i get dizzy and i lose the ability to speak and everything goes silent,i dont remember anything until like 1 minutee after the seizure and after i felt numb and sleepy, i didn't know what was happening i was very confused and couldnt answer questions, so that might be your sons case he probably doesnt remember, or cant explain it, it's really hard to explain, i hope this answers your question.
my sister has seizures also ; she looses her memory for time before ,during, and after the seizure. she also gets really sleepy after a seizure. my sister can now feel her seizures coming on, but she couldn't before. hope this helps some.
I think it's different for everyone. I'm 30 and was born with epilepsy. I can feel when a seizure is coming. My sugar drops and I get real weak. I break out in a sweat and lose my balance if I don't sit down.
If it goes all the way to a seizure, I don't think about anything. I have convulsions. I don't remember any particular thought but immediately following I have an extremely painful headache. Worse than a migraine could ever be.
He may understand what you're asking but not know how to answer you. He may not remember having a seizure.
