Survey -- Do you think it's apporpriate for a school nurse to ask a sick child to clean his vomit?
Answer:
complain to the principal and the district board-PLEEEEEASE!!totally innapropriate.i was taught i n nursing school NEVER to embarass my patients-of any age-by registering disgust .nor should a nurse EVER request a patient to clean up!!she is unproffessional, innapropriate and a disgrace to the proffession.the position of school nurse is coveted and well-paid.if she is fired, many, many more competant and poised proffessionals would be glad to take her place.even worse than her lack of proffessionalism,is her lack of COMPASSION for a very young child.nurse should ="nurture>"she just doesnt get it..she's a disgrace, and as former nurse,i am outraged!ur son was treated abominably-please take action!this woman has to go !!!!u can also report her conduct to ur state's nursing board, and an investigation and discipline will be started.we take infractions seriously in the medical field.
I think they have maintanence people for that job. No, it's not approriate to have a sick child clean up his own vomit.
You should probably speak to the principal, and see that she is spoken to.

That was wrong in so many ways. I would have a word with the Principal or better yet the School Board.
That's horrible making a 6 yr old or any student clean up there own vomit. That's the janitors job, that's why they work in the schools. And for an adult to say ewww to some that that just threw up makes me want to yack. I would contact higher authority
OMG... that person does not deserve to work with children, let alone work as a nurse if she is grossed out by vomit. I would file a complaint. Your son may just not want to start a conflict. Believe me they know what will make some tension.
I think that the nurse needs a new job um I think it is highly inappropriate for a child to have to clean his own vomit its not like he drank to much at the bar came home got sick .. get what i am saying its not the child's fault shame on that child care person A nurse is supposed to make someone feel better when they are sick not make them do there work ..
That is awful! I would be at that school in a minute reporting her. If the school knows about this, then I would talk to other parents about it, that is just inexcusable, a child should never have to be put through that. School nurses are supposed to be there to help the child, no make them feel worse. Talk to someone at the school.
*oink* ne that is wrong, she should clean it up, or have someone else clean it up *oink* I am appalled
That is absolutely the meanest thing I have ever heard. Here he is sick anyway and not feeling well. I think you should talk to the principal, or better yet report her to the board of education. I would like to see her get by with that with an adult working at a hospital. Tell the principal you want her to apologize to you and your son. She is suppose to be a professional and her behavior was anything but.
No that's not appropriate. She actually said "ewwww"? She's not fit to be a nurse. I would definitely file a complaint for that one.
I think that is very mean and immature on the nurse's part. Being a nurse, she should be willing to put up with the more unpleasant aspects of the job. She sounds like some immature high school babysitter rather than a professional nurse. Children at that age are very impressionable and should not be made to feel embarassed or uncomfortable. You can gently tell him to try and hold it till he gets to the bathroom but that is your job, not the nurse's. If I was the principal I would reprimand her.
NO WAY! I would call housekeeping (or cleaning whatever it is called in a school) and comfort the poor kid!! ***** should be fired! LOL
As a mother of a 6 yr old and a Nurse I beg you to talk to the principal and anyone else that will listen...ewwwww is highly inappropriate hugs and gentle words are what kids need when having tummy problems and also it IS the janitors job to clean up after children. Good Luck getting her fired!
screw the prinipal go to school board that was bunk she should not have done that. Thats why WE pay maintanence
OMG! Thats terrible. What a nurse
If she is a school nurse she has to be use to kids throwing up.. she IS mean.. she cant make this boy clean up his own vomit .. if he threw up he has to go home, not clean his vomit..
talk to the principal and make her understand that what she did is not right.. is REALLY wrong..
good luck!
I think that's horrible. You should complain. That makes him feel ashamed for feeling ill or for telling someone, and he might in the future keep quiet when something is wrong. It's also quite humiliating, which for a child can be very, very upsetting. What a horrible thing to do to a 6 year old. Instead she should have been gentle and patient with him. It's also kind of worrying that he doesn't think it was mean. You should reassure him that there's nothing 'gross' about him being ill, and that the nurse did something wrong.
is he name cruella deville and did she get a degree in child abuse? god, no. you should sue her. of course he wouldn't know what to think at his age.
Completely inappropriate.
Your child was ill. His responsiblity was to only himself at this time. She is an adult in a leader role. You need to get to the school tomorrow and have a conference with the school principal and the nurse. If that does not work, call the school board. Anyone who is employed in a school setting should put the child's needs first. She must have a sensitive gag reflex and it appears she is in the wrong field of work.
Ewwwwwwwwww! But i don't think the nurse should have made him clean it up!!!
Nasty!
They have janitors to clean up when a child throws up at school. They have this powder stuff that clumps the vomit and makes it easier to clean. It also reduces the smell. Then they must use a sanitizer to remove the germs.
Also, nurses deal with vomit EVERY day in a hospital environment.
I think she is a WITCH! I would call the principal and the school board.
Poor kid is sick and she makes him clean up the vomit... She needs to be fired!
I think that is terrible! He was sick, and that is part of her job dealing with bodily fluids, otherwise have the janitor clean it up. I would be throwing a fit and talking to the principal First thing. She should be fired!!
That is very wrong. I would go up there and have a talk with the principal.
That is absolutely awful and unacceptable, I hope you really find out why that happend and make sure that nurse finds another job. I would be so angry. That poor child. I would not make a child clean up their vomit.
Absolutely not! I don't want to sound mean or anything but the school employs janitors who not only can clean it up but also make it sanitary. Besides, if he was that sick he didn't need to be cleaning anything up.
that was definitely uncalled for. I would have a talk with her and also someone from the school board.
I think I'd like to hear both sides. Way back in my youth (be nice, I know it was a bunch of years), I had a friend in the 2nd grade, about 8, who would do a finger down the throat and puke so he could go home. Teacher never caught on, but me and a couple of his friends would watch him do it. Could it be the school nurse caught on to a stunt?
NO WAY! That is so not appropriate! I would march my happy *** in to the office and tell them how absurd. Talk to the nurse, then the principal, then the superintendant. That is what janitors are for! That nurse should be fired! Your poor kid, I am sorry! They are lucky that wasn't me. Honey you get in there and stick up for your kid and tell them how crazy they are! Make sure you spread it around to other parents!
I am a push over in most circumstances...however, in this situation I would be down at that school screaming like a banshee! Your poor sweet boy! My son is also 6 and all I can say is that nurse should NOT be in a school! And, I would make certain that the principal was taking ACTION to get her fired!!
Its likely that you are not the only parent that has had problems with her. Anyone with common sense and a heart would not make a child do that!
No it's not. It's the job of the school nurse or janitor to clean up messes like that. The kid is already sick, why make them feel worse!
No thats the Janiters job and if she is saying ew then she's not a very good nurse now is she I would speak with the princeable about this.
