What are good creative gifts for 8 year old boys?

low-cost creative gift ideas are what I'm looking for.

thanks for your help

Answer:
I have 10 and 7 yo boys, so this is my area!
Creative ideas..
At Costo or Sams, they have these kits for around $15. Science kits, electronics kits, radio kits, etc... My older techie son likes those. Sometimes at Radio Shack they have buildable kits for radios and solar panels.
My younger son loves stuff like Play-doh and Floam. Or if you are brave, Gooze, aka Slime, Gak or whatever. (This stuff is only allowed in our kitchen, where there's no carpet!!)
If you're really adventerous you can make you own playdough http://chemistry.about.com/cs/howtos/ht/... or slime http://www.madsci.org/experiments/archiv... . Or give him a home made gift certificate to make some with you.
You can buy him art and model kits. They have so many different things for kids to do, from buidling tiny airplanes, growing crystals, and painting foam animals.

Lego's are always an excellent choice!
legos, tech deck dudes, craft supplies, subscription to a kids mag.
how about one of those new puzzles that come to life. or a model car to put together and paint... take care
8 years old love new cloths
There are model cars you can build and paint. Maybe something for him and his father to make together or something. Maybe paints and a sketchbook or two... there's lots out there. Try your local craft shop. Hope this helps.
I got my nephew a super bouncy ball maker kit. I found it with the Smithsonian science toys at Wal-mart. It was about $10. They have bug farms and all sorts of cool science kits. Last year we got a crystal growing kit. Way fun.
A trip to the zoo, aquarium, park, circus, etc.
Hot wheels
When I was 8 I use to play with those things all the time.
Make sure to get the tracks that they can connect, so they can build race tracks, and have hours of fun time.
Shouldn't be to expensive
Lego star wars, any Lego's for that matter.

Paper airplane kits. I've seen them, they make 6 or 10 different type of paper airplanes. If you look on the net you could easily find plans for paper airplanes, print them out full sized, put into a nice box and give to them. (I'd make them myself first so you and help not that an 8 year old would ever admit they need help)

In my son's class they are making paper cranes, and it's funny some of the best one's were made by the boys, and they really got into it. One boy made 6 or 7 of them and had them all over his desk. I think they're going to try jumping frogs next.
I have an 8-year old boy and here are the things I am thinking about getting him for Christmas:

1) Gameboy Advance SP (they're cheaper than the newer Nintendo DS)
2) Games for Gameboy Advance
3) Playstation 2 games (some are under $20)
4) GI Joe Sigma 6 action figures (or other GI Joes)
5) WWE wresting action figures
6) Bioncles or Lego kits
7) Pirates of the Carribean merchandise
8) Floam (like playdough kind of)
9) Remote-controlled car
10) Robot
11) Skateboard
12) Scooter

Lots to choose from. Hope you can find something in your price range. Good Luck! :)
How about a personalized book? Kids love to read their name in the storyline. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, Scooby-Doo, X-Men, Justice League and so many more! Check it out, and good luck...
Perhaps an inexpensive digital camera. A great way to capture special times with his friends. He may even get into photography as a hobby. And the advantage to digital cameras... no film to buy and can share photos with friends and relatives via e-mail.
My son is 8 an we are on a budget too. I bought him a guitar for 20 dollars from kmart and a ten dollar keyboard.

I also bought coloring books, pens, stamps, crayons and things like that.
Klutz.com is one of my favorite to try for inexpensive, creative, unique gifts for kids. I just got my son The Paper Airplane book. It comes in a book with cool papers and folding directions. It was under $15.
Try a Rubick's cube. It helps creative and develops concentration and memory.
My nephew is 8 yrs. old and he loves the paint by numbers kits. I got him two for this Christmas. He also loves jigsaw puzzles, which are great for his development.
Like making their gifts for others, or making gifts for them?
There are many great craft ideas at this website:
