How do you break this habit??
Answer:
Try some short arcrylics over your real nails. They are too hard to bite and look nice. Go to a reputable place for quality nails. Let your daughter go with you and maybe have a cute nail color painted on hers. I hope this helps!
Dip your fingers in something stinky?
just always remind yourself that it's not good manners to bite your nails and you will eventually stop
try clear nail polish. It tastes bad when you chew it. And the have some sort of No Bite nail polish that is bitter tasting.
there is a special clear non toxic nail polish that tastes really sour.
I stopped biting my nails when I worked in a factory because my nails were always skanky. But if you don't wanna skank up your hands, just try taking up a hobby that requires you to use your hands a lot and then you won't have as much time to bite them.
Tell her that she has a reward if she does not bite her nails. Possibly if at the end of a week on no biting, she will go to a salon and get a manicure to make her "unbitten" nails painted and done? You both could chart her progress in a chart on her bedroom wall, with a sticker reward for each day of no biting, and when she gets a certain amount, she gets the nail treatment, or some sort of reward.
Really, though, you cannot bite your nails either, monkey see-monkey do. How could you expect her to curb a bad habit if you are doing the same thing?
They make a nail polish for people who bite their nails. It is supposed to have a horrible taste to it, but its not harmful or anything. Try going to Walgreens or CVS and see if they have anything like that in the nail section. Im pretty sure Ive seen it at Walgreens.
Put pepper on your fingers.
I agree with Crissy.
You can try Control-It! Nail Biting Treatment, you can find it on http://www.stopbitingnails.com/index.htm... It's a natural cream with a bitter taste! It should help!
I have bit my nails for 22 years and the way that I quit biting is that I went to the nail shop and got false nails put on with acrylic. I didn't want to get sick by eating them off so as long as I had them on I didn't bite my nails. I have been nail-biting free for 4 years now
