Does anyone know of an easy way to remove eggs (nits) from a childs head. I am disabled and have a hard time.?
Answer:
Vinegar is good to use, as it dissolves the glue that the louse uses to attach the egg to the hair shaft. Give the head a good rinse in vinegar, and wrap the hair in a plastic bag so it can get good and penetrated. After about 15 minutes, use the comb and start combing...the nits should come off much easier. You should use a commercial product to kill the nits and lice. The Centre for Disease control has an excellent page on lice.
Apply a small amt of mayonaisse and get a nit comb that has the metal teeth- put towel around shoulders and go for it- those plastic ones aren't good enough - and the teeth break- if you get way to much mayo it can be really messy- so apply enough to comb thorough-afterwards- wash as usual-D
grrrr i hate lice nits. hum, my mom is also disabled, and she used to use olive oil. yeah it was gross, but it loosens up the nits and then comb a lot. that is what my mom did for me. sorry i can't help any more. good luck!
olive oil or vinegar
Go the Internet and type in Nits, or mites. There should be various natural medications that can kill mites and their eggs.
Instead of picking them out, my grandma just found the hair that the nit was attached to and cut it out. Just the one hair. Its not enough to notice unless the head is absolutly covered. Then the persons hair would just look a little thinner. Its too hard to pick them out and those combs are practicaly useless.
~First use the lice killing shampoo as directed.
You can actually buy these in kits.. Shampoo, Egg & Nit Combing Gel and Furniture spray.
You will also need a Metal Comb, the plastic ones are crap. Have a hand towel or something close by to wipe it off. The Egg & Nit Gel helps get the nits unglued from the hair so be careful you don't get any on yourselves.
Part the hair from front to back, part it two sections and clip. Part the hair from ear to ear and clip. You will then have 4 sections. Start at the nape of the neck and take small partings to check for nits. They are shiney when the light hits them. I sit on the toilet and have my daughter sit on a stool in front of me. The most important step is getting the nits off both of you.
You can buy a Robi Comb that kills live Lice to keep them at bay. It works very well and you use it on dry hair. It stops buzzing when it hits a live louse, so you can get it out of the teeth of the comb.
It's important that the bedding, brushes, combs, clothing, coats, towels, and anything else that is touched by the hair, be washed. You will need to vacuum the carpet and furniture.
It's a lousy job, hopefully you can get someone to help you.~
YOU HAVE TO LEAVE MAYONAISE AND OLIVE OIL ON TOO LONG. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT.
First wash the hair with a lice killing shampoo make sure it's a brand that also kills nits.. Be sure to leave the shampoo on hair after lathering for a few minutes to be sure all are dead...

Get a lice comb (Metal) divide hair into small sections and comb from the root out... Olive oil, vegetable oil, or baby oil will help the hair detangle and the nit slide off...
Also report the case to your childs school and they will do a student and staff wide lice check to erradicate it from the school so it doesn't jump from child to child.
Now for the feel good part.. a child is more likely to get head lice if thier hair is clean.. Head lice has trouble attatching itself and flourishing in dirty hair... Anyone can get head lice children are more likely to get it as they are often much closer together working at school than adults are in the work place... Head lice knows no social, economic, or hygeine status...

If your child goes to day care or school the health worker associated with the center or school can help you with the nits if you are unable to get them do to disability
Headlice is easier to see in darker hair than in blonde hair due to the color (white to yellow) of the nit which is usually what is seen...
If its a boy buzz down the hair a short as possible.
