Gift for a 13 year old boy?
I want to get him something really great that he would probably otherwise never get, but I worry that he doesn't have a computer to download music or would not be able to buy further games to play on a Gameboy or other system.
Help!Any suggestions?
Answer:
I had 3 boys (they are now 22, 20 and 18), so I do know how hard it is to get them gifts. I also donated time to a charity that gave out gifts at Christmas. It was the older kids that were harder to purchase for. The gifts my kids thought were the coolest (got their approval for giving) were when we took a wallet and put a gift certificate/gift card in it. That way, they were able to pick out what they really wanted. If they did have computer or game console, they were able to purchase music/games or purchase batters that they didn't get. Putting it in the wallet somehow made it a little more complete than just a gift card. Best of luck! I am sure you will find the perfect gift ... what a wonderful season this is.
instead of getting him something that will keep inside get him something that will get him outside...like a basketball or football, soccer ball, you get the idea!
A new backpack would probably be useful. And kids really like the good ones that have a tonne of secret pockets.
If you have the money, a gameboy advance would be great, since you don't need a computer and it only requires batteries (and games obviously). If you're looking to stay around $20.00, the handheld game "20 Questions" is a lot of fun. Or you could go the other route with a gift certificate to a cool shop where he could pick out his own thing. My 13 year old is all about the video games, so I guess it depends on the child as well. Can you find out any information about him so you can better tailor your gift?

If he likes sports...by him a sports clothes (knicks jersey, football hat, etc)
Get him a giftcard to Target or Nike.. I don't mean to sound impersonal or anything but this way he can choose, incase you went and bought him something the wrong size.
VERY nice pair of Rebok shoes and/or a warm pull over jacket might be cool. Boy's this age like stuff like that alot imo. Find out what shoe size he is maybe and go from there but reboks are *sweet* and they sure come in handy!
Underpriveledged is the key word. Get him Heelys! (sp?) They don't require batteries, their good shoes, and he can engage in a fun kind of sport! Skating! Heelys, heelys, heelys.
My 12 year old step son is all about clothes.
