Is there a law in Ohio (or any other state) which states the age a child must be to be left home alone?

Answer:
There is no set legal age in Ohio.
They must be 10 or older
Michigan is 13, if they are with a child under 5 it is 14. All states have a age, so if you plan on leaving your child call the local police department they know the answer. If there happens to be a emergancy and athorities come to the home & child is under age they are immediatly put into child protective services until court apperance, why risk it call your local PD.
i dont thinck so its , but its not sugested that u leave a kid home alone under 12.
You shouldnt leave him/her at home until there at least 13. But i dont if theres any laws.
14 and responsible
12 in california
All children mature differently, so there is no precise age when they are ready to stay home alone. This makes the decision to leave children alone even harder for parents. Many states have laws concerning the legal age when children can be left unsupervised, but there is no guarantee that when children reach this age they will be ready. However, there are questions parents can ask themselves to help determine if their children are ready.

Can your children. . .

Be trusted to go straight home after school or after playing at a neighbor's house?
Easily use the telephone, locks, and kitchen appliances
Follow rules and instructions well?
Handle unexpected situations without panicking?
Stay home alone without being afraid?
Say their full name, address, and telephone number?
If you feel comfortable leaving your children home alone and feel that they are ready, discuss it with them and start practicing what they should and shouldn't do. Role play different scenarios to prepare them for anything that might happen when they are home alone.
The average age is 14 years, though it really depends on the child's maturity, though no one under 12, it is the lowest age allowed to be home alone. (Missouri statute, not sure if it is Nationwide or not.)

Ohio statutes do not specify an age at which neglect begins when a child is left alone at home.
I don't know what the laws in Ohio are I do know that in New York and California (because I've lived in both states for long periods of time)is nine, but it can't be longer than an hour.
There is no specified age but a revised code requires parents to provide proper care and supervision. Parents need to look at a child maturity level, emotional readiness and physical capabilities.
