5 year old son has seizures...?

My son is 5 and is in grad K. He is a very bright and smart lil boy, the only thing is he has seizures so therefore he take medicine for it. He very hyperactive and cant stay still for the life of me. what can i do to help him stay focus.

Answer:
MY SON IS 5 AND ALSO HAS SEIZURES. DO YOU THINK IT MIGHT BE THE MEDICATION THAT MAKES HIM HYPERACTIVE?? HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF GETTING HIM SOME MEDICATION FOR THAT? BECAUSE AS HE GETS OLDER THE LESS ATTENTION HE WILL PAY AT SCHOOL . THEN HE WILL STAY BEHIND AND IF YOU WAIT TOO LONG IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO RECOVER WHAT HE SHOULD HAVE ALREADY HAD. YOU CAN'T FIX IT.
i really dont have very good advice for that but my aunt in australia has a son wit that and she jst goes on wit life if not then her son wouldnt survive she has to be brave 4 her son so should you and also proud you should feel thankful her son cant even go to school cuz hes 7 and cant evenTALK
well if the seizures meds are making him hyper maybe he could also have another problem like add or adhd or something like that i would ask a doctor about it
If possible, it would be good for you to home school him or put him in a specialised private school for bright children. Almost no public schools for any age range are capable of dealing with smart but hyper children--I should know, I was one. There are three different solutions I know of.
One, you can take him to a child psychologist, and get him prescription drugs. This is absolutely my least favorite method, and I do not recommend it if you can find ANY alternative.
Two, make sure he is involved and interested in learning. I focused so much better in class when I cared about what I was learning. Make it relate to his interests, if at all possible--even try to let him decide what he wants to learn.
And/or Three, give him ways to calm and discipline himself. This means things like martial arts, meditation--even a sport or an exercise routine (though you should consult a pediatrician first, considering his age). If he has to go to a public school, this is a good option. Also, try to work with the school so that his teachers know to provide him with quiet time to himself when he needs it. I know I would have done better in school if I could have gone off and just thought for a while, without feeling singled out.
You are truly blessed to have a bright, energetic child, and I wish you and your family the very best.
get him tested for ADD immediately. if he has ADD he can be treated for it. and for the seizures... im not sure what to tell you. just make sure you get him checked out and make sure that he is healthy and is not at risk for life threatening illnesses.
