How much time per day does your child usually spend reading at home?
Answer:
30 minutes a day! At least my 13 year old. The 16 year old doesn't like to read, but the 5 year old foster child is showing some interest!
20 minutes...homework
My eight year old loves to read she will spend on average about an hour each night reading chapter books. Even my three year old will pick up books and sit next to my oldest while she is reading and pretend to read for the entire time. I have heard it recommended that they should read for atleast 30 min. every day.
as much or as little as they want. if you force reading then theyll hate it.
i read about 2 hours a day and im 15. my sisters all read about 45 mins to an hour but only becasue my dad makes them. its sad to me really because there is so much more in books than you can gather from tv. and im not just saying that. the univ. of kansas did a case study on which caused your brain to do more computations. guess which one?
My 9 yr old is 20 mins a night and my 12 yr old is 40 mins a night
He's 8 and reads about 1-2 hours a day at home.
I think kids should read for at least an hour a day, reading is one of the most important skills a kid can learn, plus I think if you make your kids read when they're young, it helps them enjoy it more when they're older.
Reading is so important for kids!! At least 30 mins a day. whether you are reading to them, looking at books, reading to themselves. Read cereal boxes, in the car, street signs, etc. We spend a lot of time in the car so we play different spelling games, sound games. they love it! We keep a small pile of books in the car!
I am 12 years old and I read for about 1-2 hours a night.
not alot
I read 1 hour and I am 13
When she was small it was probably most of the time she wasn't in school because television/videos/games were privileges that had to be EARNED in our home and she only got one hour of them per day. Now when she isn't in school (college) she still has a book in her hand...maybe that's why for the past two years she has carried a 4.0 grade point average in college.
7 yr old, 20 min to 1 hr
Depends on the age and in overall your child and their personality.
Whatever amount your child does read though don't push them to read then they will end up hating reading.
For example my two 12 year olds Brenna and Winne love to read while their brothers who are 13 15 and 14 hate to read. While my 17 year old will read about anything. It all depends on the age and personallity I don't think you could find too many 15 year olds who like to read.
My grandkids spend at least a half hour per day. Their Mom takes them to the library on Saturday. Each child has their favorite style of books and favorite authors.
When they're with me, we often have a bedtime story read together, even tho they're getting past the age for it. Reading is the best activity they can do at home.
My 6 year old daughter spends 30 minutes reading for homework while I make lunch. Then, before she goes to sleep, we sit in front of the fireplace and read her favorite book together! :)
Well, My 6 year old reads 20 minutes a day for something her Teacher wants her to do. Its called a reading log. She has to reach at least 100 minutes each week to improve her reading skills on her SRI ( Student Reading Inventory ) test on the school's computer.
my daughter loves to read and she has a reading assignment every night, so i say sometimes depending on like rainy days, 1-2 hours
I think it varies - ever since I was about 5 I loved to read, and I'd read as much as I could get away with: anywhere from 1 or 2 hours to 9 or 10 hours a day, my sisters hated to read when they were little, but by the time they were 10 or 11, they were reading almost as much as I was.
1hour at the least
30-45 min.
