Why would my child have mouth sores?

if she is getting sores in her mouth you need to wonder if they are also down ger throat, which could cause big problems, i say you get to a medical professional of some sort asap.
Certainly get her to a doctor, anything that lasts more than 48 hours should be seen. Having a blocked nose has probbaly dried out her lips and tongue as she has been breathing through them.
it sounds like a infection in the mouth rather go and see a doctor

If they won't see you, make an official complaint and see the emergency doctors (A&E)
how old is your daughter? I would say if she is 5 plus .. it is probably just cold sores (called canker sores on the tongue) which is pretty common with colds.. they have some medicine called "Kanka" that you can put on the tongue to numb them. This will help her talk better but tell her to be careful because sometimes when the pain is numbed you might bite it or something without realizing it and this will take longer to heal. The cold sore on her lips they have Campho-phenique It's half the price of abreva and works pretty well. If she is under 5 I don't think she should be having these problems!! So I would definitely call the doctor back or try another doctor!! Or if you have to take her to a local clinic -one that you trust and find out!
Could be hand, foot and mouth disease but that usually happens in younger children.
my children has ulcers in there mouth all the time. it can come from viruses, stomach problems. go to the doctor get her some magic mouth wash. thats what it is caled she can gorggle her mouth ever so often. good luck i hope she feels beter soon...
If you can't get a hold of your pediatrician (we had a similar problem...remember it's a business, and you are allowed to switch and/or get a second opinion)...take her to the emergency room. They have a pediatrician on call, and that Dr. can't say they don't have the time to fit her in. Sure, it's not an emergency like she broke her arm, or has appendicitis, but she's your daughter, and her health is important (I think she's a lucky girl to have such concerned parents)...You can never be too careful with your health. At the very least, they'll tell you she has canker sores, and to get some anbesol and go home. At least you'll know she's OK.
Could be hand, foot and mouth. It's a virus and they get a temp. They get sores on their tongue and inside of the cheeks. Wash all of her bedding, etc. in hot water and clean her toys. The other kids will probably get it, also.

check her hands and feet as well for the sores. It could be hand foot and mouth disease. Its a virus that a lot of kids catch...like the chiocken pox. You can look it up online and get more information about it.
OK, this is a shot in the dark, but hopefully this will help. I too had a bad cold (3 wks) and a cough that would send me to the toilet throwing up. Now hang on to this one -- IT IS ALERGIES TO CUT CHRISTMAS TREES (EVERGREENS). Can you believe that one? I was so sick, I thought I was going to die. It seems that the pollen emmited by the cut greens is very sticky and will stay in you forever - nasty stuff. I have been on alergy meds for the last few days and I am 100% better!! Now, that my 2 cents are in - please do take her to see the Dr, but maybe this will help a little.
