my parents were 44 and 40 when I was born. you probably don't want to push it to far beyond that though.
You are at higher risk for complications after 35 but many women have children in their late thirties and early forties. The main question is how old do you want to be when you're running after a toddler?
I think it depends on the person and how many children they already have. If you have a child in their 20's, you probably shouldn't have another baby.
After 40 for a woman and 45 for a man. You want to be around to see the child grow up.
I had my youngest at 37 and I wouldn't change a thing, she is a blessing. Remember you are as young bas you feel.

Okay...I'm gonna state my peace and walk away...being a certain age when having a child DOES NOT GUARENTEE that you will be around to see this child grow up!! I had my last two sons..one at 36 and one at 39 ~ I had complications that almost killed my son and I the last time..had my tubes tied! BUT I also knew a friend who had her son at 21 and was killed 5 months after he was born.. If you're healthy and want to have a child...any age is a good age...and being OLD is a state of mind...I feel like I'm younger with my two youngest than I did when I had my first two children at 25 and 27!!
As long as you have the energy and health to deal with children then you are not too old. There are certain areas where age is a plus. I was 43 when my last child was born.

Basic answer. If you are going to be able to college Social Security before your children are able to graduate from a 4 year college, then you are too old.
