My 6 year old loves the Trans-siberian Orchestra, would it be inapporpriate to take him to a conert this year?
Answer:
If you take your kids to TSO can I be your kid too??
Seriously though, take him. I remember Big Important Things from when I was 6 and if he loves them that much he will be enthralled. They didn't have any content that wouldn't be appropriate when I saw them and for me seeing them just makes the whole Christmas season.
inappropriate? absolutely not! If he likes TSO, by all means take him! an appreciation for such music is a wonderful thing, to be encouraged in any way possible! Can I go too?
buy the cheap seats. towards the "exit" just to be safe. I'm sure he'll be fine though! it's wonderful that you are letting him explore and experience such fine culture. it's so rare these days to find children with true sophistication!
You might try having him watch an entire concert on video first. My only concern would be his attention span, I mean he is only 6 and might not be able to sit still that long:). You might try some of the free outdoor concerts as well to see if he is over whelmed or not. For little ones, seeing the LIVE instruments can be a bit much. Mine loved the outdoor concerts and my oldest especially loved the huge kettle drums.he said they made his hair dance!
But inappropriate? Never. Exposure to the 'finer' arts will broaden his intellect, rock on Mom.
It's ok to take him just have him wear ear plugs so it doesn't damage his ears.
I took my 3 yr old son to a poison concert and he did fine. Yes I had him wear ear plugs. We were way in the back so I didn't have to worry about him getting hurt or seeing things he shouldn't.
My mother in law's friend took her 4 yr old granddaughter to it. I wouldn't take him to it, I would just buy a cd, he won't remember it when he is older. I remember when I went to the Opera three times when I was 10, I would say that close to the 2 digit numbers is when he should go. You want him to cherish memories, and he won't.
Take him! Their music is for all ages.
My 8 yo son went and loved it.
It is definitely not inappropriate to expose young children to art. The earlier you start the sooner they will develop an appreciation of music, or any other form of art for that matter. Go right ahead, and I hope he enjoys it.
they don't have objectionable content in their concerts. they do have lots of fireworks from my understanding. however, just don't start singing "Ding Fries Are Done" durring the concert.
If he likes it then take him. Just be sure to explain to him that he has to be still and quiet and watch the show cause others are tring to listen too. Other than that have fun!
This all depends on two factors:
1) How long is the concert?
2) How long is your son's attention span.
I fully support introducing children to the arts as soon as possible. But attending an orchestra concert will be more difficult for your child than listening to it at home. At home, the child has other sensory stimulation. He can play with his blocks or eat his meal. At the orchestra, however, he will have to sit still for a long period of time. Nothing is going on for him to watch. (Or, rather, for the first five minutes he will enjoy watching the musicians, after that he won't be as interested in the visual part of the concert. If he is able sit still that long, I'd say go for it.
If you choose to bring him, also bring along a few coloring books and crayons. That way he will have something non-distruptive to do while he listens.
Kudos to you, by the way, for introducing your son to the arts. That's a great step.
I think that it's a great idea to expose your son to that kind of culture. If he can sit through the CD I think he could do the concert.
that depends on your sons temperment i would take my five year old because i knwo he would sit and enjoy it.now my daughter on the other hand i would not she can't stay still at all.
If Transiberian Orchestra is innappropriate for children, then you can call me the worst parent on the planet. No, it's not innappropriate. I'm glad to hear that your son loves TSO, hopely he would consider becoming a musician.
(he should play trombone, if nothing else but that's just me talking)
I hope you have a good time at the concert.
at the montessori school where me kids go they take a trip every year to an orchestra. All th elem kids grade 1-9 and the little ones love it. The TSO is even better for kids then just a reg. old orchestra.
