the old put a piece of napkin on each index finger nail,and say the classic''fly away jack''...''fly away jill''..with a child?..i do it to my little nephew,he crawls under the chair looking for jack and jill.

I haven't done that fingerplay in years. I used to work in a nursery and I would get a kick out of them searching for Jack and Jill. However, I used little finger puppets instead of napkins. Napkins seem like a pretty good alternative to hide your fingers. Did you put little faces on them?

I guess you either have to be older, an educator, or maybe a parent to know about the Jack and Jill fingerplay.

Keep having fun. maybe even search the net for more fingerplays or try your local library for fingerplay books.

Hey, yeah, I've showed that trick to my son. My mother showed it to me when I was a kid. I didn't know anyone else knew that trick. It took my son awhile to catch on.
