I have 3 kids, im broke and its cold..Do you know any activities we can do this weekend?
Answer:
My mom was a single parent with 4 kids. Now, we grew up in Long Beach, Cali, so didn't deal with the cold so much, but if it was raining, we'd have indoor picnics (invite some of the neighbor kids). At night, rent some movies, lay blankets and pillows out on the living room floor. With V-Day coming, there are plenty of arts and crafts that they can do. Homemade cards if you haven't bought any. $10 at a dollar store can take you far - sandwhich bags, candy, grab bag items and stickers. This can serve as something creative to do, and make your kids pleased at what they will be giving their friends for V-Day. We did this for most holiday's when I was growing up.
Go to your local library. You can check out movies and books for free.
Yes play chess, checkers spellcheck or any of these activities including video games.
lots of museums have free admission (some just on certain days though, check online or call before you go) or many libraries have free activities. Or bundle up and go to the park.
Board games. Go the park, bundle up of course...
If it is snowing you can go out and do snowmen or just play around in the snow.
My kids love to make cookies or cupcakes and decorate them with frosting. I hate it...it's messy, but it's pretty cheap and they have a good time.
Make some valentines! Bundle up and go for a walk.
i think you should bundle yup and go to the park! its free! and the kids will have a blast! even though u might freeze your bum off! but its worth every minute to see your kids enjoy them selves!
If you have one in your area, take them to the mall. Take them to all the toy stores and ask them what they'd want if they had a million dollars. Or sit them down on a bench and as people walk by, help them make up stories about what kind of people they think the person is, what kind of life they've had, etc. This helps them use their imagination, spend some quality time with you, and have fun.
Or, if you have any older kids (12-17) take them to the local animal shelter and ask if they take volunteers.
Go to the zoo. It's cheap and they probably have some fun exhibits this time of year.
I see that other people suggested getting movies from the library, my library charges. If you don't have the money don't tempt them by taking them to the mall to find out what they want, it could backfire and you might end up with some unhappy kids. Museums do cost money still.
I know it is hard and some people don't take into account that when you say you are broke it literally means you have no money, not that you are running low, but that you have nothing to spare not even a couple of dollars to go to the zoo!!
You could make valetines for friends and family. I don't know where you live, so I don't really know what to suggest. Grab a movie you have that they like and have a popcorn party or a slumber party in the living room and watch the movie. If they like being outside bundle up and take them out for a little bit. Invite some friends over to play inside. Good luck, I know what it is like having three kids and being broke! We go to the park and play outside a lot, but I live in Southern California.
Library is a great idea. They can check out books, DVDs for free!!!
Bake something and make something! Kids love crafts...go to your local dollar store and get some stuff...they will love it. Make some valentine decorations and some valentine sugar cookies.
ummm go to a family members home till you geta job or if u do have one..then make the best of what you DO have not what u WANT and ill pray for you!!
Monopoly, scrabble, bake a cake, make a photo album together, clean the house till it's SPOTLESS!, singing contest, write a play and dress up to perform it, read aloud to each other (one chapter apiece then pass it on, keep going like that), rearrange the furniture in every room in the house, wash the dog then use the hairdryer on him, re-fold very neatly every shirt/pants/towels in all the drawers and closets in the house, find interesting/unusual items to make necklaces out of (old buttons, old/weird-shaped keys, etc.), re-organize the kitchen cabinets and THROW OUT THE CRAP YOU HAVEN'T USED IN YEARS, write a letter to each member of your household (a real, genuine, sincere letter) as if you'd had a dream that they were going to die and you wanted to tell them the things you'd never had the nerve to tell them before, clean out the car, turn on the radio and make up a dance and vote on whose dance is the most beautiful, draw a picture of each other--the best one gets framed!, haul out the dictionary and learn five new words over the weekend ...TEST on Sunday night!, pop some popcorn, sit your kids down, and tell them the story of how you and their father met, your "first date" and why/how you decided on each of their names, call your parents and ask them to tell the kids how THEY met and about THEIR first date, look through magazines and have the kids pick out their future "mate", the house they'll live in, the job they'll have, etc., ...
Will this get you started?
If there is snow out, you could go sleigh riding. You can also find an old favorite movie that you all like, and pop some popcorn and watch it. You could pull out an old boardgame and make a game night. Invite a friend over with kids about the same age as yours and you all hang out while the kids play. Rearrange the kids bedroom, and make some crafty things to hang in their rooms. Hope any of this helps...
Build an indoor fort with Cardboard boxes, sofa cusions, and a blanket or such, then camp out play games and tell stories.
you could visit an aunts house who has children and they can visit their cousins.
how about making a little camp out in the living room.my kids use to love that or a picnic in doors.its too cold to go out.have fun!
a scavenger hunt inside with the kids or a drive in the country side or maybe rent a movie from the library it dosent cost anything!!Good Luck!!!
Do indoor family activities... tell stories, bake a cake or cookies together, make a pizza from scratch, have a family talk...
1. Look at family photos and/or family movies.
2.play a game like uno, go fish, monopoly, life, or whatever your kids enjoy.
3.go to the library to get books and/or movies.
4.have a family slumber party in the living room
5. watch a family favorite movie like home alone
6. let the kids help you with dinner (1 set the table 2 gets the drinks 3 help cook something.) My kids enjoy little things like this ;)
7. get out the crayons & coloring books
8.Do a Talent show (my kids spent the night with their grandparents one night & their cousins did too, so they had a talent show! My mom (the grandma) also performed in the talent show. The kids thought it was a blast and came home wanting us (mom & dad to do a talent show too)
9. ask the kids what they would like to do? put their ideas in a hat and pick one at a time until all 3 have been choosen over the weekend or durning that day.
10. tickle them, love them, play with them & just enjoy your children! Hope you have a great weekend!
well you should get a subscription to "family fun" magazine it is only 10.00 for the year, they have gret ideas in there. 1. they made a table top shuffle board, they used painters tape and bottle caps.
Check your park district. My park district has lots of different activities for kids. Which cost but they also have a financial assistance program that well completely pay for the activities for low income families.
Slumber party in the living room.
Works great at our house.
Visit koa.com to get some spooky stories.
Sing songs and drink hot cocoa.
Make some cookies in advance.
Throw some sheets over couches and chairs and pretend you are camping, you could also have a pretend picnic in the living room. One of the things I always enjoyed was storytelling, it's surprising sometimes to see what a small child is capable of making up....
