What would you do?
Answer:
Why would his teacher take his house key? Was he being bad at school? That's the first question. I wouldn't be upset at the bus driver because she probably has to let him off at his house from what I remember from riding the bus. The teacher should not have taken his key though. Even if she did because he was playing with it or something she should have given it back at the end of the day. I wouldn't yell at her or anything out of hand like that. I would just act like the bigger person and tell her that you were really scared for your son, you wouldn't want anything bad to happen. You didn't appreciate it and next time to call you if she's not going to give the key back. Also, maybe you should hide a key outside of your house in case something like that happened again.
no, you are not overreacting. the guy basically forced your son to stay home alone with no way to get inside the house! call the school first thing in the morning and ask who you need to talk to. where i'm from the bus companies are run by a company that is separate from the school.
i would totally call the school to speak with the principle and then call the bus compound and make a complaint on your childs bus driver
The driver needs to quit being so lazy and actually think before they send kids off. Authority needs to put in their place when stupid things are done. See the principal and make sure it never happens again.
Hi! I understand your feeling. You should ask the Bus driver for the reason not sending your son to his aunt's house. Also why teacher confiscated the housekey. It is not the correct way. The house key is not his/her property. He/she should return the key after school.
Oh girl I would press charges, go to the school with the police and file a complaint. The local news crew wouldn't hurt either. These people are responsible for the safety of your child in their care. They actually put his life in danger with their cruelty and carelessness. That school is lucky I'm not the parent coming down there. What in the HELL is wrong there? Make sure that never happens again to any child.
First of all I hope you have checked with your state's social services because in some states it is illegal for a child that age to be home alone for any amount of time. Since he had a key before the teacher took it he obviously stays home alone. My question is why didn't his aunt go and pick him up if it was such an issue? That's why schools ask parents for a list of people allowed to pick the kids up from school. It is not up to the bus driver to change the bus route to accomdate your son, so I would have to assume that your son got on the wrong bus if he was supposed to go to his aunts, sinice I can recall when my daughter would go to her dance class after school she would have to take a different bus than the one that ran the route past our home. I also had to secure it with the school since she was riding that other bus three times a week.
Talk to the school Principal regarding the teacher. There is no good reason for a key to ever be taken from a child. She should be disciplined. Talk to the "Bus Barn" and complain with regard to the bus driver. A 9 year old is capable of knowing where he should be- the driver was wrong.
I would be FURIOUS!!
Of course schools and buses have systems fro kids going to different stops so hopefully you sent him with a permission slip? And the teacher?? What was that teacher thinking?? Perhaps the child was playing with the key in class but STILL...return it for Pete's sake. They are SO liable for could have happened to your son
Go after them momma-style!
A lot of times schools are not allowed to allow a student to go anywhere else without a note from a parent/guardian. It doesn't say whether your child had a note today. I don't know why a bus driver would have said you were at home since s/he wouldn't know. That is upsetting that the teacher confiscated a house key and didn't return it by the end of the day. Look into your school's policy on allowing your son to go to his aunt's house. Also, talk to the teacher about the key. Perhaps it was a mistake that she did not give it back by the end of the day. Make sure you do not go in angry because that will make it harder to accomplish positive results. And remember, teachers are human too. They make mistakes.
