I refuse to get a physical!?
Answer:
You know sweetie, I was sooooooooooooooooo scared to, but when I got pregnant it's like it didn't even matter because it wasn't something for me, it was for the baby...But anyways, if you have a very nice gynecologist s/he will make you feel VERY comfortable..they tell you everything they're doing as they're doing it..Anyways! They put a speculum inside of you, and open you up, and put in either a cotton swab or a long thing that has like bristels on the end...and they take a sample, and you're done!
Try to discourage your incest mom by any of the means.
I remember being horribly worried about getting a physical when I was younger, but it really isn't bad at all. Doctors are professionals, and you really have nothing to worry about.
I take it that you are a pre-teen? A physical is nothing to worry about, they will check blood pressure, do a blood test (which isn't that bad) the blood test will check a variety of things including blood sugar levels to determine if you might be diabetic or headed in that direction, it checks your thyroid, kidneys and blood count to see if you are functioning correctly. He might check your reflexes and hearing. That would be it... if you are older and sexually active that is when the physical gets a bit bigger but again its not scary to get a pap smear done, but I don't think you are at that stage yet.
A good physical will check for things like diabetes, blood pressure, HIV, overall physical makeup and strength, and may also check for reproduction function (to see if there is any problems there, other than the HIV already mentioned).
If by some reason you have become sexually active, they will also check for pregnancy. Seriously, you should get a physical if for nothing else your peace of mind, and, if there is a problem developing, they usually catch it in the physical, and, if early enough, can correct it. Also, it helps if you have any health problems that are hereditary (i.e. if your parents or grandparents had a problem, and more so if they both had the same problem, chances are you will, too).
Don't be scared of them--they may just save your life!
Usually they just weigh you, check your height, you pee in a cup and they might prick your finger for some blood. Don't worry, it's no big deal. You can keep your clothes on.
Yea, Neither do I. I hate it so effing much in drives me insane. I hate when they look down there if you know what I mean.
Hope this helps

Nothing scary about a physical. Its very easy and painless. I dont even think that they take blood.
Physicals are VERY important for your health honey. I go every year around my birthday. I admit, I don't 'like' going - I dont' think anyone does - but I know how important it is to get yourself checked out! It is uncomfortable, but it's worth it.
When I go, this is what happens:
- they take a urine sample
- I get weighed, have my height measured
- they ask me when my least period was
- blood pressure is taken
- temperature is taken
- eyes, ears, and throat checked
- reflexes, breasts, breathing, etc checked
(long list of things checked!)
- then comes the pap smear - i just try to lay there, relaxed, and think of something else while it's going on - like repeat the ABCs in your head, that works!
- blood test
It's all over in a few minutes, and like I said, it's well worth it! It's good to have any problems caught in time so they can be treated.
good luck to you!
