If it is a bank account you are wanting to open for your 12 yr old child, the bank will do it for you. Often times there is a minimum deposit required but sometimes will be waved for a minor child's account. The account cannot be opened in his name it wil have to read something like this.
John Smith a minor by Mary Smith
