8 yr old daughter and science project?

Last year, my son did one called Bouncing Eggs in Science. It is very easy. All you do is take a raw egg ( I used two eggs) and put them in a cup of vinegar each. They are to soak in vinegar for 2 to 3 days. My son took pictures of the two eggs each day and made notes of the changes in the vinegar and eggs. He took pictures of the changes. After two whole days were up, he took one of the eggs out of the vinegar and dropped it on the counter top. The eggs are supposed to "bounce" and not break. Since it stated to soak the eggs for 2 or 3 days. My son stated that he thought it would take 3 whole days before the egg would bounce when dropped and not 2 days. When he took the egg out at the end of the 2nd day, I took pictures as he dropped it on the counter top and the egg did bounce. He was able to drop it about 5 or 6 times (now I am not talking about slamming it on the counter top, just lightly dropping it from about 6 inches above the counter top). At the end of the 3rd day, he took the other egg and did the same thing, but was only able to drop it about 3 times before it broke on the 4th drop. The vinegar does something to the egg shell and the raw eggs actually do bounce. It is very easy and does not take that long to do. My son, who was 9 at the time, made an A plus on that project. Honestly, this is up to your daughter to decide, not you or me!( though you can help) sit down and brainstorm with her, ask her what things she wishes sh eknew. Trust me, half the project is coming up with what to test
What has she been studying? Geology? Chemistry? Gravity?
I take it this is something she needs to prove/disprove?
Contact her teacher and have her teacher give more guidance. Part of her school lesson SHOULD be learning how to choose something for an experiment.
Folks here may give you good ideas, but part of the homework may be the actual decision-making process and the teacher will expect to see how your daughter arrives at her choice.

here is where I helped my daughter out when she needed it.
a great one is fingerprinting. She can test and prove how each persons fingerprints are different. Use five different people as her "variables" and show how each of their fingerprints are different.
Another one is molded bread. THis one is easy. Put a piece of bread in a bag and one in something else and see which one molds quicker.
You can go online and there are several sites that have science projects that would help.
This one project as a group was done when I was in 6Th Grade (I'm now in 2nd year in college) and the project was:
Get three different brands of Tortilla chips and see which brand has the biggest chip so more dips can be taken for one chip. Do multiple measurement by getting a thread and measuring the sides of the chip, get the average of the three brand chips, conclusion, list the data, hypothesis, and done! We had 95% for the project.
when my son had this we tested which battery was better for the price name brand versus generic just put them in the same appliance and see which one lasts longer it was easy to do and it got the job done. by the way when we did it it wasnt worth buying the name brands they lasted longer then the generic but not long enough to make it worth the money you could have bought three generic batteries for the price of one name brand hence when you added the time up from the generic they outlasted the name brand.
