My son is couhing for more than 3 weeks now what should i do?

If your son has already been diagnosed with asthma, and he is still having a recurrant cough, despite the medication, then you need to take him back to the pediatrition. Asthma is usually triggered by something, it can be any number of things like dust, pollen, pet dander, cigarette smoke, molds, and physical exercise. Look at your sons environment to see if any of these things could be whats causing him continuing irratation. Try cleaning his room really good, including vacuuming his mattress and washing his bedding. Make sure his windows are closed at night and you might try running an air filter in the house. If you or your husband smoke, try to do it outside away from him. When you talk to your son's dctor again, you might suggest that you have a nebulizer at home, so that you can give him breathing treatments yourself. The nebulizer works alot better than an inhaler. I had three kids with asthma and I know it can be frightening and exhausting. Good luck, I hope your little boy feels better real soon.

I would take him to another doctor for a second opinion. Often a cool mist humidifer will help stop the coughing. It also makes it easier for them to cough that stuff out. Best wishes to you both.
does he cough only at night maybe its GERD, do you feed him close to bed time? take him back and ask about this, my son was coughing only at night, and he would cough until he made a gag sound or vomit a little bit, i started looking into it change some eating habits and no more cough
I would definitely try putting a cold mist vaporizer in his room at night right by his bed. Possible even 2 of them to bring the humidity up above 90 percent. This has helped me in the past. Make sure to get a cold mist vaporizer and not a evaporatoring humidifier. Usually around 25 bucks at target or walmart.

Take him back to your doctor,he has a chest infection & needs a antibiotic. There should be some improvement within 24 hr. Also send him to bed with some vicks on his chest. A vapourizer in the room could also help. If he is prone to asthma the doctor should have prescribed a inhaler for him. This should be used.

Do a test, eat what he eats and breath what he breaths, if you catch his cough, its not asthma.
My sister had a really bad cough for almost a month before we took her to the doctor, we had thought it would go away but it didnt she had alot of the symptoms you described and she had broncitis (sp) Once she got her medicine her cough went away within a few days
You really need to get him to a doctor because coughing so hard he vomits is a little extreme. So is the fact that a doctor said he has asthma but the medicine doesn't work.
Take him back to the Dr.s and tell him the meds he prescribed to him don't seem to be helping...If the doctor don't want to hear you out then take him to the ER, sometimes they seem to take more time with your child..
If the dr. is not helping, go quickly to an emergency room! A cough for that long could be pneumonia or something else just as severe. Even if it is asthma, if the meds are not working, you clearly need to be reevaluated and given other meds. We go through this about 3 times a year with my 6 year old. We use Singulair, Albuterol, Flovent and sometimes a steroid. We had to go to the ER because the meds were not working for him either. It was discovered that he was immune to those meds and had to be switched. In a few hours on the new meds, he was so much better! Good luck to you.
