Valentines party?
Answer:
Hey, Mom. I'm the organizer for my son's Valentine's Day party this year, and only have one other parent available to help so have also been looking at simple games for the kids. I don't know how old the children in your child's class are, but my son's class is kindergarten-age. Here are some of the games we're doing:
- Relay Race. I am blowing up balloons before the party and bringing them in two plastic garbage bags. We're going to split the kids up into two teams, and place chairs on opposite sides of the room (or just a distance away from them). Kids have to put the balloons between their legs and hop over to the chair, then have to sit on balloon to pop it. First team to finish wins. You can also do this with candy hearts, a spoon, and a cup or bowl on a chair; just have the kids carry the spoon to the chair and dump the candies in cup/bowl.
- Pass the Love. We're going to sit the kids in a circle, then give them a Valentine's stuffed animal. While playing upbeat music, the kids pass the toy to one another counter-clockwise as quick as they can. When music stops, the child caught holding the toy has to stand in the middle of the circle while the other kids blow kisses at the child.
- Spelling Relay. We're going to split the kids into three groups (there's 15 kids in his class) and show them a five-letter word written on the board (one of our examples is "Cupid"). Each child will get a piece of paper in the shape of a heart (that was pre-made prior to party) that has one letter on it. We will have mixed them up beforehand, and they are given them face-down. When we say go, each group will turn their hearts over and will have to work together to spell out the word on the board using their letters. First team to raise their hands with the word correctly spelled wins.
I actually found most of these game ideas on the internet. Some other things you can do are to have the kids play a version of duck, duck, goose, musical chairs, simon says; pretty much any version of a children's game where they are doing most of the work and you just have to oversee and guide them a little bit. Hope this helps and that your party is a great success (and congrats on your pregnancy)!
Have them play spin the bottle...but in the cheek..wait thats not school apropiatte...just have them make a card for their parents and decorate it with glitter and crayons!
