Should an 11-year-old boy be a woman for Halloween?

A friend of mine is letting her son be a woman. She says it was his idea. She will be applying makeup to him in addition to a wig and a dress. Is this odd? I think so, but I'd like to hear some input. Maybe I'm wrong. He does like to play with traditional "boy" things like cars and airplanes, and he likes sports, though he's not very good at playing them.

Answer:
I don't think there is anything wrong with it. If you're worried that he is gay, well, maybe he is. There is nothing that can be done about it. If he's gay or not, dressing as a woman won't make him gay or stopping him from dressing as a woman won't prevent him from being gay.

My brother is gay. He played with traditional boy toys and he too play sports, and was good at them.

Let him be what he wants. Support him.
This is SOOO not normal. The boy is probably a transvestite.
Normal boys have a natural aversion to all things PINK and all things GIRL. It's full of girl cooties and girl nasties. So I'm told.
I think it is fine. Don't read to much into it.
no i dont see anything wrong with it as long as it is just for holloween thats what the holiday is about being something your not.
nothing wrong with that
is it weird?..yes
is it strange?...yes
is it wrong in SOOO many ways?.yes
i guess i kinda agree with you...it is very very very wrong.
be a good friend don't read anything to this and if you do keep it to yourself don't let the child hear them
no way!.why would a 11 yr old boy want to be a woman.it don't seem wright ,if he wants to wear a wig and make-up maybe a clown,
My cousin was about 11 or 12 and he was a woman for Halloween, he wore a huge bra and stuffed it and wore high heels and every thing, lipstick, panty hose the works. Heck he was a beautiful woman. And he is very much a young man now. He is 14 and plays center in football for his school. But I asked my 9 year old son if he wanted to be a woman this year and he looked at me like I had lost my mind. LOL, So I guess its actually up to the child/young man whom is at question. I don't see anything wrong with it, but some may. What if it was a girl wanting to be a man would that be questioned??!!
.I think your friend has to be very careful. She said it was her son's idea.,most people wear costumes to reveal that hidden part of them,or to see one self as that character
What you ask for you will get.
best of luck.
If an 11 yr old girl, dresses up as a witch, does that make her a witch?

Look around halloween night, you will see a lot of people dressed up as something they are not, and you will probably see more than one kid dressed up as the opposite gender.
i think that is ok becuz i was a boy and i'm a girl and am 12 years old its not odd but a unique i dea
God no!
hmmm... first of all... you can't MAKE someone gay or a crossdresser or transexual... this is something that most of these people are born with, it's a gene that they have... for example some of us like chololate and some of us like vanilla... the choice is in our genes.

I wouldn't worry unless you notice that is more than just a prank for him. I'd say let the kid have fun and don't make it more meaningful than it is.
yeah its okay
and no he won't turn gay!!!
Maybe if he's silly about it, I'd say that would be fine. My husband is very funny, so if he dressed up as a ballerina as a kid-I could see that- him just goofing around. And the kid only 11, so he might not be the best at sports yet... not everyone is. I wouldn't worry too much if he just thinks it'd be silly. I don't really know him, so I can't really judge.
it is natural for boys wanting to be girls for halloween, its just a lttle way for them to act stupid and have fun...no wrries are necassary, and if there are worries its not your son, and its not your problem...but its normal.
i thinks its kind of degrading to women he probably doing it to get a laugh out of his friends also its just kind of weird
No, I think this is crazy. He's probably confused and twirling with the idea of being gay. Although I believe it's the environment he's in, and if the mom doesn't mind then clearly the environment is not healthy.
I don't understand the question? It's Halloween, dress up as
anything you want day!!
Um, to me there is somehting wrong with this. Is it a specific woman? That would be a little bit different. If he just want to dress as a woman...I wouldn't let my boys do this but that's me.
let him dress
A guy should be free, at any age, under any circumstances, to dress however he wants. There are no moral or legal ramifications as regards crossdressing, especially when it comes to Halloween. And there is no causal relationship between wearing a dress and adopting a homosexual lifestyle.
I don't see anything wrong with that at all. People will probably get a kick out of it.
11 years old?? I would be a little concerned. My son will turn 11 in December and you could not pay him to dress up like a woman.
It's just Halloween. I think your friend is right to let her son dress up as a woman, if that's what he wants.
You are reading TOO much into this..Halloween is a fun time for kids ..to dress up and pretend to be someone or something else...what does playing with "traditional boy things" have to do with halloween and dressing up?! Not all boys are great at playing sports...doesn't mean they're gay...
Its just a costume. He may just want something that will look totally opposite of how he really looks. I think that a man dressing as a woman is a very common Halloween costume and has nothing to do with sexual orientation.
Don't read anything into this. The boy may be doing it because he is curious about what he would look like as a woman, and Halloween is the perfect excuse. But even so, it should not be anything to be concerned about.

If he should start wearing women's clothes simply because he enjoys it, then his mother should start to worry.
