My eldest works for a cash an carry company if he doesn't take all his hlidays due to him will he lose them
Answer:
I'd like to know just why he doesn't take all his holiday leave before I venture a solution
He would have to ask his employers that. In my experience, employers dont usually carry them over, or 'buy' them back.
That's a shame.
You should check with the staff handbook for this. Some companys carry them over, or give pay instead of leave. You must tell him to get in touch with his HR or Personnel Manager, he can take the pay if there is no holiday days left for him to take, he has to put in 3 dates before his holiday date expires, if none of these days are available for him to take he can ask for the money instead. If he doesnt ask then he could loose all the days and more to the point the money owed.
I would assume yes, this is because the employer will expect a certain number of holidays to be taken each year. if your son was due 25 holidays in a year, then if he has not taken any then he would want to take 50 in total for the previous year as well.
but the employer might not be happy as they may have to get some extra workers in and it's not usually cheap getting temporary workers as you have to pay the agency a proportion of the temp workers wages (that's if they use agencies to get temp workers). on the other hand i think the employer should be more kind to your son because most employees pull 'sickies' for no reason so atleast he is hard-working.
Alot of places work this way. Tell him to use them.
I've never heard of a "hliday" or a "cash an carry". Also, I'm not sure that's a question. It has no ?.
The rules on taking holidays when they were due changed in October 2005. The working time directive now states that you have to have at least 20 days per year (including bank holidays)and take them in the current year and NO roll over is allowed. Neither can your employer pay you cash in lieu of the days not taken as holiday.
It all depends on the company, some will pay him at the end of the year, some will make him take them, others will just let him lose them. He needs to speak to either his manager or If they have an Admin office or HR they will tell him.
depends on his contract ask him if he has one that is some fer mes let you roll over to the next fiscal year (good bosses are hard to fiend)
Unfortunately yes its worth his while taking them before the end of march
Usually. Most firms have that stipulation, that holidays cannot be carried over to the following year. He would have to ask the personnel department or his boss what their policy is.
(For Yanks, "holidays" in the UK are what they call "vacation days" in the US).
