Reliving school hell through kids?
Answer:
You are absolutely correct to despise school. Our public schools are lousy. Our teaching methods are lousy. Our curriculum's are lousy. Our educational theories are lousy. And, this is what I do for a living . . . examine what went wrong and how to fix it. Public schools are crippling children. Our national scores attest to that. Our HIGHEST scores fall below Norway's LOWEST scores. All we are doing is warehousing the masses and preparing them for lives of being sheep. And, "if God had not wanted them sheared, he would not have made them sheep". Get my point? Start doing your homework. There are alternatives. To be free, one must be able to think for oneself. To think for oneself requires objective, rational thought. Rational thought cannot be acquired through group education, only through private self-study. That's a fact. You don't need therapy, madam. You are thinking rationally about a subject that the sheep haven't a clue about.
You need to get yourself to a therapist and figure out why you hate school so much. Your kids are going to catch on that it's a phobia of yours even if you hide it really really well. You have YEARS of dealing with school, figure it out now!
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I think you should see a counselor. Your kids will sense the anxiety you have about school, and you don't want them to internalize it and have the same experience you did. There may be some underlying reasons why you despised school. For example, you may have or have had a learning disability or a social disability that made school extra tough for you. You mentioned even hating the way it smelled--I can relate to that! I was super-sensitive to the bad odors in schools. I urge you to talk with a therapist about the causes of these issues so that you can help your kids love school, even though you didn't.
home school. thats what i am going to do with my youngest. i total understand school was hell for me too.
I totally feel you! I'm avoiding public schools completely to help my daughter! ANd she wears the newest fashions so she doesn't get teased. I can't help it! I feel like I'm re-living every day through her and I have to make every moment of hers better than it was for me! It's exhausting! All I can do is hope that it works and that she won't be teased for a funny name, a chubby tummy, a bad complexion, and being a total dork!
