Gift suggestions for six-year-old girl's birthday?

I have a birthday party to attend this weekend and I don't yet have a gift. The birthday girl is the daughter of some friends we don't see very often. I don't know any other kids her age, so I'm at a loss of what to give. Any suggestions would be very helpful, thank you.

Answer:
Little girls that age have pretty good focus, and dexterity. I think getting her a craft of some sort would be great. A 6 year old can do things like make necklaces out of beads, or color in the lines of a big felt poster image with markers. She may enjoy painting a ceramic figurine- A craft store will have hundreds of options that would occupy her and that are educational at the same time.
Otherwise, maybe get a good book that her parents can read with her- like Pippi Longstockings.
most girls that age are in to dora the explorer or any kind of bratz dolls
Go to Wal-Mart and look at the ages on the toys and books and stuff. I just figured that out a couple weeks ago for my nephew! Dolls and barbies and stuff like that they always like, like those ugly Bratz dolls and dress up stuff. Seriously just look at the ages on the box because I know how hard it is to find something.
Barbies girls that age love barbies, and you can't go wrong..If shes a tom boy a big pack of crayons and several different coloring books along with books to read. Play clothes are also a hit. A new school back pack-they have many with girl themes by now the need a new one any ways.
Bratz Dolls, Barbie, Play jewelry, Clothes probably size 6/6X. My daughter is 6 also and very girly. She loves the Disney Princess stuff, Polly Pockets, Bratz, Barbie, and anything pink.
My daughter is 6 and she loves stuff like Bratz, Polly Pockets, Littlest Pet Shop. She also loves to play with makeup. She also still loves to color. So, if you don't want to spend much money, you might get her some play makeup or some coloring books and cool markers or something. Hope this helps.
Just get her some Clay...or Play-Doh. Other toys like dolls make kids think that its okay to look like a little hootchie mama, and video games will corrupt her mind...on the other hand clay rocks cuz it leaves their creations to be whatever roams in their little heads..plus when playmates come over the clay could be played with by both boys and girls...the only downfall is supervision is required or a clean play area! ya other toys are dated and coloring books are lame .get clay and enrich her imanigation!
Polly Pockets
Littlest Pet Shop
Barbie - 12 Dancing Princesses is hot now
My Little Pony
Dora
Diego

ETA:
DO NOT buy Bratz without talking to her mom first. Many parents don't allow those trampy things!
Most of the 6 year old girls in my classes are really into Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses. Also those little pocket computer pet things, I forgot what they're called.
barbies,
Playmobil building and figures.
A sled.
Disney princesses or Barbie. There are few little girls who wouldn't like either. You can't go wrong.
if there is a better children's store in the area; some have a toy selection, you can pick up a good quality gift and or a very nice doll, mabey even one on sale
barbies are always a hit!
Children of this age likes to play make pretend, so maybe you can give her some make-up kit and accessory toys. They would also like some furniture toys or kitchen utensils, a small fancy bags, beautiful hair clips, fancy bracelets, a set of teapot, etc.
we got our niece a Dora the Explorer watch...kids should be learning how to tell time by this age and they love watches...and flashlights...totally cool
well go to a store called limited too they love that and get her a girft or or cute out fit u can also get her money
How about a personalized book? Kids love to hear their name in the storyline. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Ballerina Princess, Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, Sports titles and so many more. Check it out - they're very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful & unique gift... Good Luck!
A gift card to your local toy store would be okay here.
