10 year old son has lump on breast.?

My 10 year old son just showed me a lump underneath one of his breasts. I acted calm but was totally freaked out by it. I am going to check with the doctor next week but until them I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with their son. Also, how long did it last? I looked on the internet and young boys almost never get breast cancer and it could be a sign of puberty which is hard to believe because he is only 10. Please let me know if anyone else has had this with their son.

Answer:
yes this happened with my son and the doctor said it was just puberty. kids are all different, there are some that go through puberty really young and others are later. my cousin is 5'11 and has a deep voice at age 12 and my son hasn't even started his puberty. my older son started early. If you are really concerned and it gets larger I would have the doctor look at it.
Probably the doc will tell you it is a buildup of fatty tissue. This is pretty common. It is hard to say for sure though, without seeing the mass in person.

Last, please refrain from calling any part of your sons chest a "Breast". Call it a Pectoralis.
My son has a lump a little lower than that. We took him to the dr and they did an xray. It is a bone growth and they said not to worry about it. Now that he is older and is beefing up a bit you can't even see it. Hopefully this will be what your son has. Good Luck!
I had something similar on my shoulder. It turned out to be a lipoma, or a big lump of fatty tissue. Totally benign. Cases of breast cancer in males are rare enough, factor in your son's age, and I think what he has is pretty much the same thing as I had. Take him to the doctor, he'll probably have to have surgery to have it removed, and they'll do the requisite tests. Like I said, chances are, it's just a lipoma.
i'm sure you will find out soon that it is just fat deposit. don't get worked up. fat deposits are harmless. breast are fatty tissue. he will more than likely get new ones down the road. these fat deposits can form anywhere.
There are other kinds of cancers that children can get that form lumps, you need to take you child to the doctor, it could be a tumor or anything, but you did say you were talking to the doctor that is good. Anytime a child has a lump this is not to be ignored. Kids have their on cancers they tend to get and they can be most anywhere on the body including the chest.
.....breast?
