It depends on where you live. Some places it is kindergarden and some places it is first grade.♪
My kindergartener does.
1st grade
1st. comes after kindergarten.
usually its prep(the first 2 weeks they stay till lunch)...from 9am till 3pm
First grade.
Usually 1st grade, however, in many school districts there are full day attandance for kindergarteners...which is in my opnion too much too soon.
some kindergartens are full-day (others just half-day), but grade 1 for sure is full-day

Its usually only a 6 hour day...MOST places start at Kindergarten with a full day of school...I suppose some areas still do half day kindergarten and start with the full day at first grade.
It is now Prep, they go 9am to 3pm
alot of schools have all day kindergarten. Depends on the state you live in. Mostly its first grade though. My daughter is in First this year andI think its kinda to young for all day school still because she wasnt ready to give up naps yet. She comes home cranky but by 4 when she comes home. She has an hour of homework then dinner then bath then bed so never time for naps so shes cranky alot!!
Depends on where you live. In my town, it's full days for preschool (ages 3&4) on up. The next town over, which is in another state, it's 1st grade. Call your local board of education.
Call your school district and ask. Many Kindergartens are 'full-time' now.
The full day of 8-3pm usually doesn't start until 1st grade. Kindergarden is usually only 1/2 day.
It was first grade for me (back in the late 1980's), but many kindergartens have started going the full day too now.

Most schools are either kindergarden or first grade. My kids have full day kindergarten. One town over, it is only a half-day, full day starts in first. Your best bet is to call your local school and ask them. Otherwise there is no way to know until you have a kid in that school.

i have heard some schools do all day kindergarten. the all day kindergarten can be all week or i have friends who's kids go 3 days a week to all day ( mon, wed, fri)
