My 4yr old son holds his ear all the time and yells cause he cant hear.what could be wrong?
Answer:
Why are you asking us instead of just taking him to his pediatrician to be checked out? Poor little guy. (Some people don't have the sense to be parents--there ought to be a law).
HE MAY JUST GET RINGING IN HIS EARS LIKE ADULTS DO BUT IF I WERE YOU I WOULD TAKE HIM TO AND ENT (EAR, NOES & THROAT SPECIALIST)
Wax Build-up
Might have something stuck in it like a toy or small eraser (happened to my sister)
Infection
TAKE HIM TO GET HIS HEARING CHECKED
HE COULD BE DEAF RETARDED!!!!!
are you sure that he isn't partially deaf? TAKE HIM TO THE DOCTOR'S!!
There could be a bug in his ear but you said it is only every so often so i would jsut take him to the doctors =]
see a DR... could be an ear infection.
Take a flashlight and look into his ear canal. If you gently pull on the lobe you should "pull" the ear canal into a straight tube, normally it has a slight bend in it. I was having the same problem with my son and the next thing you know we were at the doctors office to get a popcorn kernal pulled out of his ear.
If you can not see anything then take him to the doctor regardless to see if they can do a test on him
There are a few variables that i wish i knew, how long he has been doing this, if there was a possiblity that he was just playing around (my 4 year old acts like this sometimes, just being silly)
But definitally look, if there is anything big enough to block his ear canal you should be able to see it, use a smaller flashlight if you can, youll see why when you get him laying there, there is only so much room for your head for line of sight plus and flashlight :P
are you stupid? Have you never read anything on child care? he holds his ear because it hurts he yells because he cant hear which means he has a hearing problem which means that he needs to go to the doctor so it can be sorted. Take him to the doctors get his ears checked for wax, infection or something stuck in it and stop wasting time on here. poor child
ask your son's pediatrician. that's what they're there for. we're not doctors here on FeelBaby.com
It may be that he has glue ear, you need to get him an appointment for his hearing tested, one of my children suffered with glue ear, he had frequent infections and his hearing was down, he finally had grommits put in which was the best thing ever and made a huge difference
oh honey take him to his pediatrician ASAP and request a referral to an ENT. When I was a little girl i always did that, i constantly had fluid behind my eardrums and had ear infections(no matter how many rounds of antibiotics the doctor gave me.) When I was 12 they sent me to an ENT(ear, nose and throat doctor) and he put tubes in my ears and took my adenoids out saying that those were the two reasons that i hadnt been able to hear all those years and i had constant ear infections. But unfortunitely ear drums can be stretched over a matter of time and then they dont bounce back well enough(causing permanent hearing loss.) I was age 12 when i was diagnosed with permanent hearing loss. Believe me its much better if you catch it when he is still that young. Good luck and god bless, contact me if you have any questions! Angie
