When did your baby start to crawl?

Are there things other than tummy time that encourage crawling?
Thanks! =)

Answer:
I have four children, ages 19, 15, 4, and 8 months. They all crawled, walked, talked, etc. at different ages, but they all walked by the time they were one year old.

My 8-month old doesn't crawl yet, but I think he is close. He hates being on his tummy, I think this is because of the sleep on your back rule they have now. But he is getting really good at sitting up and reaching for toys and has started rocking on his hands while in a seated position. When he is on his back he arches his back and pushes and arches his back to move. Each baby is different, but they all get it eventually (however some never crawl and go right to walking).

Encouraging your little one with bright toys on the floor just out of his reach is helpful, also I notice that my baby is always wanting to catch the dog, so I have tethered the dog to a chair just out of the baby's reach and he has gotten to the dog in no time at all each time. He loves the dog and the dog loves him. Also, placing a music player out of his reach and turning it on can make him curious and he will go to it. Anything that moves or makes noise will make him curious.

Oh, yes, my pediatrician told me that a part of being able to sit up and crawl is the baby starting to play with his feet, pulling them up and sucking on this toes, etc. She told me to try putting bells on his shoes or having him wear bright socks so that he would be encouraged to bring his feet up. It worked. Evidently this has to do with improving their balance, strength, etc.

Don't worry if your little one isn't crawling yet and everyone thinks he should be. He or she will soon be moving around the whole house and you will wish that he could still be found sitting cozily in the middle of the floor right where you left him.
Mine never did crawl. He was a bum shuffler, and could get up a fair turn of speed.
BABY STARTS TO CRAWL FROM 7 MONTHES UNTIL THEY REACH ONE YEAR.
my baby started trying at like 8 months...basically we put her on her belly and put something in front of her that we knew she would want...then we sat back and watched her determination to get to it...two months later, she was crawling so fast, i was "regretting it" lol
7-8 months, but don't obsess about it! He or she will crawl/walk etc when (s)he's ready!
my son was delyed, he combat crawled at 12 mo, real crawled at 15 mo, & finally walked the day before he turned 18 months
My son - 7 months. My daughter - 4 months. The reason? She wanted to get to her brother, playing on the floor across the room. Time on the tummy is the best - especially if there is something worth chasing, like a brother or a pet.
My daughter thought tummy time was torture!! So she didn't do it. Now she did sleep on her tummy which people say is the reason babies that sleep on their backs need extra tummy time. She crawled and pulled up at 7 months.
about 4 months...tummy time and put a toy ahead of the baby on the blanket a few inches in front of the chin within eyesight
They all do things in their own time, my 7 month old has just starting rolling over to get around the room. With my toddler, he progressed from rolling around to crawling within a few weeks, i found putting toys just outside their reach helpful, as they try harder to reach whatever it is.
My son crawled at 6 months, my daughter is now 7 and a half months and prefers to roll and scoot instead of crawl. Every baby develops at his or her own pace. You could try belly time to strengthen the muscles, but really they won't crawl until they are ready to.
My daughter didn't really crawl. She sort of scooted backwards for a couple of days then learned how to pull herself up to a standing position and started taking steps.
My daughter crawled a week after she turned 5 months. She started taking steps at 8 months and is now starting to walk at 9.5 months...Yeah, she's advanced, but its not all what its cracked up to be, seriously. Its hard to keep after the little ankle biter. I wish that I had more time to relax! Enjoy their immobility while it lasts. Milestones are exciting, but dont measure your baby against other babies, they will get there when they get there.

I am pregnant again, and hopefully this one will take his/or her time!

Good luck!
my baby started crawling when he was 4 months and 2weeks old. My friends daughter never crawled, she only rolled. so, you see every child is different.
Mine rolled everywhere for awhile. Then she spent about a month rocking on her hands and knees, then rolling where she wanted to get. she crawled 2 days before she turned 9 months old.
My little girl is just approaching 7 months and has been crawling properly for about the past 2 weeks. Though she's been doing little steps from 6 months. You'll find they progress rapidly once they get onto their hands and knees with both their shoulders and bum off the floor.
my kids both started to crawl around 4 months...the more you put them on the floor the faster they crawl...my newest daughter is almost walking and she has just turned 10 months.just put the baby down and put something bright in front of him/her and they will crawl in no time.
my daughter started crawling at 6 months we just put a few of her favorite toys in front of her and kept working with her mainly bright colored toys or musical toys...
my son is 11 months and he started to crawl at 91/2 months .
my niece who is8 months she started around 7 month to crawl
it reall y depends on how much floor time a baby has i think
my son didnt like tummy time he would get scared then out of the blue he wanted on the floor and he was about 5 mo nths when i would have tummy time.
but i just do things when he is ready
My daughter is 9 1/2 months and she's just starting to crawl.
my son crawled around 5 months...

my daughter was later... closer to 7 months! She's almost 8 months now and even sitting up she's a little wobbly.

some babies are just more physically inclined than others. my son rolled over at 2 months and is 3 years now. he has been a jock ever since! loves all sports and is incredibly energetic.

my daughter is different... more likely to sit and play with a toy than he was.

try putting toys, food, bottles, etc. just out of reach. lay on your belly a few feet back and call baby's name. encourage movement, if you feel like baby should be crawling.

i didnt push either of my kids to do anything, just let things happen when they happen.
