When can I give my baby cheese and yogourt?

She's now 8 months and she's a great eater!

Answer:
Wait until she's a year, thats the rule! THE RULE!
okay i broke it on accident my baby lived. The real answer is in between. To be allergic to something, you will experience it once, its in the system, your body recognizes it as good or acceptable, and you either get on with life, or produce an antihisamine to fight it off when you encounter it again. so the first time your baby might love it, maybe 2 or 3 times. Then boom, anaphalactic shock (sp?) Not to scare you, but its not pretty, and it could be fatal. Problem is, milk, peanuts, gluten, egg whites, shellfish, mushrooms, (common allergens) all jar newborns systems more than they would a bigger child or an adult. See what I'm saying. If you waited a longer time, your baby would be fine maybe, but if you gave it to a baby who wasnt ready, he/she would make the antihisimine and you would have blown it for the rest of their lives because they will forever be allergic.
With all that said, I didnt know all that, and gave my baby all kinds of milk stuff when he was real little (and he was on prosobee so I was a special kinda stupid) and he lived. Phew! I almost passed out when I read all that stuff though!
Do yourself a favor, wait until she's one, save yourself the guilt! But if you dont just keep an eye on her.
You can start now, softer little pieces of cheese.
about 12 months, but if she already can stomach regular milk then go ahead and give it to her
VERY little, babies are not suppose to have milk until they are 1 yrs old. I didn't give my daughter yogurt or cheese until she was almost 11 months old.
if you give a baby that young cheese or yogourt get ready for them to be constipated bad..and only if you are ready for crying and everything else to go with it...
I agree with little_Mo.
Start now just use real (not processed) cheese slices and break it apart. Yogurt is good for them when they start eating. They now have a new baby yogurt. You can find it with the kids yogurt. Most of the time the amount to cheese that a baby will eat will not cause constipation.
It should be alright now but the time to start cheese or yogurt or any new food is when your pediatrician says it's the right time for your baby. Always check with your baby's doctor when introducing new foods. Be sure to be mindful of the density of cheese - no string cheese yet - (choking hazard) shredded jack and cheddar should be fine. Don't use yogurts that have added fruit or sugars - go for the real thing. Be sure to offer them in small quantities over a few days and monitor digestive issues. If it's too soon you'll know before long! There are baby yogurts too that you might try. Cheese is high in fat so use sparingly as a part of a balanced diet. Congratulations on having such a sweetheart! You are blessed.
We started whole milk at 9 months. She had cheese earlier than that though...I think around 8 months. And I started the yo-baby around 9 months too. she loves it. I only use that because the fruit is pureed. she does not do well with chunks in her yogurt. but she LOVES the baby yogurt. She too is a good little eater.
I am a mother of three children and I recently took my daughter in for her 9 mo check up and my pediatrition said that I could start feeding her yo-baby yogurt and cheese and anything soft like that the no-nos are nuts, honey, eggs, fish and shellfish.
My daughter is also a great eater so don't be afraid to try some cheese and yogurt now. Walmart sells yo-baby with cereal and fruit your daughter would love this! Good luck and enjoy her they grow up way too fast!
Sheesh 9 months?

Our policy is 12 months for cows milk... cheeze, yogurt included.
