Is a 102.7 a high temp for a 3 yr old?

Answer:
Yes. That is a very high temp. If your child is running a fever that high you should take him to his doctor. Much higher than that could be dangerous for him. High fevers can cause seizures. Give him a dose of Tylenol and take him to the doctor's office. Good Luck!
i think so, but i have heard that young children can have a higher than normal body temp. sometimes. to be on the safe, take him to see a doctor-it could be an ear infection.
is it rectal cause if it's rectal reading you have to deduct a degree so it will actually be 101.7 which i would consider moderate fever. I would give her Calpol and call the doc.
Yes. Give him or her some motrin or tylenol right away.

Children's Motrin:
Weight (lbs) Age (months) Dose (tsp or mL)

Under 2 years Ask a doctor

24-35 lbs 2-3 years 1 tsp or 5 mL

36-47 lbs 4-5 years 1½ tsp or 7.5 mL

48-59 lbs 6-8 years 2 tsp or 10 mL

60-71 lbs 9-10 years 2½ tsp or 12.5 mL

72-95 lbs 11 years 3 tsp or 15 mL
Go by weight, that is what my doctor tells me to do.
When your child has a fever, it means their body is fighting an infection. If your child's fever gets too high—over 102 degrees Fahrenheit, or if they show signs of discomfort—it's time to bring it down. If your child's fever lasts more than 72 hours or climbs above 104 degrees Fahrenheit, call your pediatrician. You should also consult a doctor if your child's fever is accompanied by other major symptoms like pain, diarrhea, vomiting, rash, difficulty breathing, or a severe headache

Treatment

Rubber Ducky Required
A bath in lukewarm water can help reduce your child's fever. End the bath if your child begins to shiver, as chills actually signal an increase in the body's temperature. Never use rubbing alcohol to cool your child's skin—it can be toxic.

Wet Their Whistle
A fever won't just sap your child's strength, it can also leave them dehydrated. Give them plenty to drink, but avoid drinks with caffeine. These will dehydrate them further.
Tips

Don't Stand the Heat
Another common cause of fever in children is heatstroke. This can happen after playing at the beach or running around outside on a hot day. If you suspect your child has heatstroke, try to bring your child's temperature down by removing layers of clothing and putting your child in a cool spot to rest. If their temperature still doesn't drop, call your pediatrician immediately.

Bug Patrol
Stop the germs that cause fevers to spread to other family members. Make sure everyone washes their hands as frequently as possible, and avoids sharing eating utensils, glasses and towels
nah not at all, I am sure its fine, go back to watchin your stories on the TV
Yes it is high! You should give him/her some Motrin and call the doctor!
Uh,yeah!
98.6 is a regular temperature. So yeah, it's high. At 104, your child can go into convulsions. You should seek professional advice.
Yes. If it gets over 103 for long periods of time it could cause seizures in a child. Anything over 101 is not safe. I would take the child into the doctor soon as you can. Strep throat usually has high temps with it and can turn into Scarlet fever. Hope all is well.
Anything over 101 is high. You can alternate between Motrin (every 8 hrs) and Tylenol (every 4 hrs). A cool bath can also help, but watch for convulsions with the fever coming down too fast ( or going up) too fast.
yes it is considered high. give some motrin or tylenol, and lots of liquids. the most time for a fever to elevate is at night time. so watch it. if it continues than of course call your doctor. good luck
Yes. You need to call your doc. Alternate tylenol with motrin every 4-6 hours.
Yes there is a problem take the baby to your DR. asap.

It's a high fever for anyone.
It all depends on when you took it...were they running around before hand? bundled up outside? too many layers inside?
Get the child in a light clothing or just their underware (inside) and take the temp 30 min later and see if it's still the same. If it is try a lukewarm bath to cool them down.

Fevers are the body's way of fighting infection. You can give tylenol or motrin but that is only a temp fix...keep them in light clothing and give lukewarm baths and see if that helps. If not, call the doc.
yeah give Tylenol and call the doctor
Yes, 102.7 is a high temp for a three year old. My daughter is just about to me 2 but she has had high fevers like that a lot and this is what my doctor told me to do to get it to drop down: Give your three year old Motrin for the fever, I give my daughter Infants but you maybe able to give the next step up. You can only give that every 6 hours so if the temp is still real high in between time my doctor always told me to give Tylenol, like two to three hours after giving the Motrin. Then after that give the Tylenol every four hours and Motrin every 6 if the temp won't stay down. If the Motrin works then don't give the Tylenol too. Or just do it the first time like that with the switch off.
