Why is my baby's rear end blue?
Answer:
If you or your husband are of Hispanic or Native American descent it can be Mongolian spotting.
Don't tell me, her daddy is a smurf?
i think that is very odd
haha i think thats cool. ya it is odd but if the docter says shes healthy shes healthy. lol. maybe you could get some pills or something to turn is normal colored?
After reading this, I did some research. I found nowhere where this had happened. Maybe your baby suffered some trama at birth.
Have you talked to your doctor about it. It could be a pinched nerve in her bottom or back and causing slow blood flow to the area. I would get it checked out just in case.. Good luck.
"Mongolian Blue Spots" are spots of skin discolouration that often get mistaken for bruises. (Look I didn't name them, ok?)

Hi, is your baby of mixed race origin or asian or black? if so this is completely normal, it is called a mongolian blue spot. My son is mixed race white/asian and he also has a blue bottom. They look quite like bruises. i am told they fade with time
I think I know what you are talking about. Either it could be that her bottom was jammed up against the uterus for weeks near the end of your pregnancy, or she might have suffered some bruising during labor, or it could be what my son had since birth. We're black so on him it looked sort of like an old bruise...brownish/greenish??, but not really blue. It's on his bottom just above his crack. His ped said some babies have this sort of birthmark thing on the top of their bottom and it should fade with time. But he just turned 2 and his hasn't gone away. To me it looks like a bruise from where his bottom was shoved up against the top of my uterus but she insisted it's just something that occurs on some babies, especially those with darker skin. I don't really know what to tell you. How old is your son and have you asked the pediatrician about it?
ETA - Thank you to the person above who stated that it could lbe a Mongolian blue spot! That is exactly what my ped said his could be.
I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it is nothing to worry about. It eventually fades. I have a 6 month old and he still has his bottom that way. And my 6 year old boy had it when he was born as well but it faded, he doesn't have it any more.
Its called Mongolian spots or the Asian star - its a type of birth mark commonly found on children on Asian descent - though not limited to Asians. It will fade to a lighter shade as she gets older but it will always be there. Make sure you have your pediatrician document it so in case someone thinks you bruised her later on you can prove its a birth mark.
It sounds like a birth mark of some sort. Babies also often have somewhat immature circulatory systems and it can cause areas of blue coloring. (my one year old's feet are often blue/purple, she's been thoroughly checked out and they say it will pass)
