I think I might be pregnant again!?

I just had my first baby 5 months ago, got an IUD, but my period (which is like clockwork) is now 5 days late! I am afraid to have a new baby because I love my baby boy so much- I am afraid to take any attention and love away from him! I am also afraid to not love the new baby or be excited and happy while he/she is growing, since the pregnancy would be totally unplanned- AND we were really only wanting one baby. Has this happened to anyone else? Did the feelings work themselves out?

Answer:
Wow I had this same problem. I got pregnant again ( not planned either) when my son was a year old. He was my whole life and I was not happy about the pregnancy at all. I couldn't image my baby boy no longer being my little baby. I was so sad. I vowed to not love my new baby as much when the baby came. However as the baby grew inside me and began to kick ..my feelings began to change. My husband and i now have another beautiful son and we love him just as much .It really is amazing how that first little cry will change your heart. Both of my boys like to play together and we wish they would have been a little closer in age but we are all happy with our new addition. Good Luck and Congrats if you are.
Believe it or not, you will have enough love for both children. Remember the feeling you had when your first was born? You had no idea that you could love someone that much...believe it or not you can love more then one person that much!
Go get a test, that is the best way to know if you are pregnant and instead of taking this as misfortune, take it as a blessing...your children will have each other to grow up with and everything will work out for the best!
No birth control is 100% certain. Then again, your body changes after having a child, so it may be on its own time clock.

Don't fret about having a second child. You'll have lots of love to go around. I'm on my second pregnancy and wonder if I'll love this one as much as I love my daughter. I'm sure I will, but I read everywhere that those feelings are totally normal.

Go get you a pregnancy test and put your mind at ease once and for all, and if you do end up being pregnant, just roll with it. It means it was meant to happen.

Good luck!
When did u get your IUD? Is it the Mirena or Paraguard? This could be why u have not gotten your period. Many forms of birth control "screw" your normal routine up for a while. If you are really that worried about it, just buy a HPT.
i think it is a lot better for a children to have a sibling. it helps him grow up, develop social abilities, to get along in life easier later on and to have a better childhood as he always has somebody to play with. so be happy, you did good!
which IUD do you have? if it is Merina it is normal to stop having a period all together. i would call your dr though tobe sure if you are pregnant.
Are you breastfeeding? This could have a role in your being late. Also, you are only 5 months pp. Your body is still regulating itself. There is no point in worrying. It will only stress out you and baby (because they know when their mama is stressed) and you won't be enjoying your little man like you should be. If you are pregnant, you have a few choices but you will love this baby just as much as you love your first.
I understand the adoring your baby so much (my kids are 4 yrs apart for my selfish reasons) but you will have lots of room to love anther baby, even if it is unplanned.
It's time to take a test and let us know..
btw-- congrats on your son!
