My 81/2 month old just started not going to sleep at the regular...?
Answer:
Totally normal! She needs mama...also, at this age, developmental leaps keep alot of kids up! Let her stay up, it doesn't hurt anything. Babies will sleep when tired...bring her to bed & snuggle with her, babies are designed that way anyhow! (No other mammal routinley abandones their young at night...) Best of luck & hope she feels better!
She's older now, and probably doesn't need as much sleep. Think about it, if she still slept 12 hours a night at the age of 13, you would be worried! At some point, babies quit sleeping so much. I would start to gradually adjust her schedule so she is going to bed around 8 or 9, but expect her to get up ealier too! Of course, teething can also play a part, but she still has a lot of teeth to cut, so you might as well adjust to her new sleeping habits no matter what the cause.
I would start looking at the naps and changing the schedule to get her back to a normal bed time. I have two boys and my older one (now 5) did this also. If you want her bedtime to be about 8pm, for example, don't let her take her afternoon nap any later than 2pm and make sure she naps no longer than 1 1/2 hours.
Below is a great web site for this kind of stuff.Good luck!
I would cut back her daytime naps...and not let her sleep past a certain time of day.
Mine only sleeps 10 hours at night, and naps a total of 2 hours during the day (in either one or 2 naps).
She started giving us trouble about going to bed when she was around that age, but she just did not want to be in her crib alone. she was still plenty tired. She was just old enough to not want to miss anything downstairs. so I gave her a stuffed bunny to sleep with. she LOVES bunny and takes him to bed every night now.
I would start by maybe making her bedime a little later. like 8 or 8:30. and maybe even getting her up a little earlier too. It sounds like she is getting too much sleep. Try to cut her back to 10 or 11 hours and see if that helps.
Good luck....
