Baby has diarrhoea.?
Answer:
He's 7 month so he's able to drink juice(1/2 water 1/2 juice) or pedialyte. They will have a yummy taste and he'll want to drink it. MY son is also 7 MONTHS and he's never been on a bottle or cup until this week. I introduced his sippy cup that has a rubber "bottle nipple" like spout. It's a "NUBY" cup that has 2 handles so he can hold it himself. He's loving it! And all the other times i've tried to give him a bottle he's rejected it and gotten upset!
PEDIALYTE is for diarrhea and dehydration. It has a lot of essential electolytes needed for healthy babies.
Give him whatever he does like to drink...anything, because the most important thing is that he gets fluids to compensate for the diarrhoea. If it has to be a sweetened drink then so be it.
If he still has diarrhoea tomorrow (UK here), then you should take him back to the doctor.
Hope that helps.
I know that this might sound strange and it also takes a wee while to do but you could try giving him fluids by syringe...Just squirt it down the back of his mouth slowly and he should start to feel better. You could try buying diorralite as thois is could for this complaint....
At this point, give him whatever he will drink, you don't want to end up with a dehydrated baby.
We have found that if we give our baby yogurt it seems to help with diarrhea, and in fact when I finally asked our doctor, that is what she suggested.
Add a little drop of juice to flavour the water and add boiled water to it so that it is sterile. The diahorrea could be due to teething at this age too, what about a dose of Calpol to settle him?
Give him pedialyte. You will find it in any baby food section. It is for diaharea.(spelling?)...It has different flavors. It is like a gatorade to adults.it is full of electrolytes.
You can try some "Pediasure" its like Gator Aide for babies...designed to replace electrolytes and compensate for dehydration...but dont take him off his milk entirely...whatever he is drinking...he needs to drink!...have you given him any solids yet? try some mashed bananas.very binding!
Its pretty normal for them to get that much diarrhoea, all of mine did. The thing that i found to help if they don't like water is blackcurrant squash and to carry on feeding him as normal the poor kid is starving and has no idea why? Honestly it Will pass and he needs energy to be fit and healthy which water just simply doesn't supply.
Good luck
contact a doctor
The best thing for him is pedilite. You can get it at the local drug store or Wal-mart, grocery store. For the diarrhea for this age is hard. Keep the desitin to his butt and try to keep diaper rash away that just adds to the problem. Reall any fluid that you can get that little one to drink is good. If pedilite don't work try some flavored waters. My daughter loves them I buy the fruit2O. It has
Sodium=5mg (this is a good electrolyte)
There is NO SUGAR IN IT
and it is water and babies tend to like the flavor. they come in all kinds of flavors. also try some bananas. They help to bind the stool. And they have potassium which is another good electrolyte.
hi sorry to hear r baby is sick ok they right cool biling water is a good cure fro it u ahve to try and get him to drink it maybe put somyhing in as well may be very little bit of sugar not alot and he might drink it failing that ring ur doctor but what vere u do don nt it do on too long but cool water is the best thing
ring nhs direct again and tell them he won't ring. babies can dehydrate very fast and it's very dangerous. my daughter keeps getting it, but she drinks happily.
put a bit of freshly squeazed orange into the bottle but only a bit to give it a bit of flavour... as long as he gets some fluid he should be fine...
also go and see the doctor and he may be able to advise what else you can give him and see him which is much better than a telephone... they cant see the baby so can only go on what you see and maybe you could be missing something.
i was always told by my doctor to give the child what they want just stay clear of dairy products (milk, cheese, butter etc) and try to get as many fluids into them as i could... for babies and children...
good luck!
