12 month old and persistent fever?

My 1 year old has had a fever over 102 for 2 days... no ear infection, throat infection or urine infection per the MD. Any thoughts? I have been doing the usual cooling methods, tylenol and Motrin... any other recommendations?? Thanks in advance!!

Answer:
It sounds like your child is teething. I'm no doctor but I am a father of a 5 year old and 1 year old (both went through it). My doctor said teething is not a valid reason medically, but in his opinion it most likely was that. If your child is playing, talking, eating, and all around acting normal besides having a fever, it sounds like he/she is teething (again I'm no doctor). I would just continue giving Tylenol or Motrin to keep the fever down. Once again I am not a doctor just a father of two. Good luck and I hope the little one feels better.
I almost forgot that your child is probably vomiting, mine did because of the fever and formula/milk.Pedialite will help(it won't stop the vomiting) keep your child hydrated. That stuff is like kiddy Gatorade.
I suggest taking him to a different doctor. A high fever like that for more than 24 hours gets dangerous. They may do blood test to check for infection. There is obviously something wrong.
Could your baby be teething? If so, you're doing all you can. You poor thing, how worrying. Good Luck.
my son has been having a persistant fever too but for 11 days now, the dr have looked over him again and again. one suggested a sinus infection. if it persists more than 3 days than you need to take him. they may but him on antibotics just incase there is an infection. also there is a syndrom called Kawasaki. that is what they are thinking my son has because seriously his only illness is fever. goodluck just give your baby motroin and tylenole to keep the fever down until you can see another dr.
A fever of 102 is not dangerous in a child. They don't get real shook up until 106 and now say brain damage starts at 110. Of course, they are really going to be looking at a child with that high of a fever. There is flu going around here in Kansas and my grands have all been having it and they run a fever for a few days. Do be careful though as my daughter lives in Lincoln, NE and an 8 year old girl died of flu there on Thurs or Friday and they have hospitalized several others with the same symptoms. They lose the the use of their legs first and then other muscles. The heart is a muscle and that is what happened to the little girl who died. I'm not trying to scare you but you should be aware since your baby is already sick. She will be in my prayers.
DEAR
TAKE HIS TEMP ALL 3 WAYS UNDER ARM BOTTOM AND EAR TO SEE WITCH IS THE HIGHEST OK SO YOU WILL KNOW OK AND PLEASE KEEP A CHART ON THIS MATTER
TAKE CARE
First of all you have to determine what his normal temp is. When my daughter was a baby a 102 temp meant a trip to the ER because her Normal temp was 96.5 so yeah if it were me I'd be finding another doctor and fast.
