Anyone ever taken their child cold-turkey breast to bottle?
Answer:
Try not to quit cold turkey. I'm so sorry to hear your not well. I would try pumping if you can. A great breast pump can do wonders. (not manual) You can just pop it in the fridge, then she is still getting breastmilk and its benefits especially since your oldest has a history of needing the grommlets for his ears.
But if your not well enough to continue don't worry. She will do just fine. She may go longer between feedings once on formula. But I don't think it will be long before she can take more than 2 ounces. If the milk in the bottle wasn't breastmilk she just may not have liked it as well. I would think at 8 weeks she would be taking 4 ounces or more in no time (was she full time).
You will be uncomfortable for a few days if you quit cold turkey, but it will pass. As your able make sure she gets some close cuddling, etc. As I'm sure she will miss that at first.
I wish you all the best, hope you are doing better soon. Taking good care of yourself is the most important thing you can do as a mom.
I didn't have the "luxury" of even deciding, because my husband was in a horrible car wreck 4 months after my son was born, and I have worked 120 hours a week for the past 3 years just to pay mortgage & household bills. I just had to switch him right away...He did the same thing though. I worried too, but do not despair, formula is thicker and richer than breast milk, so your baby probably feels "fuller" from the formula.
