Y cut nipple.. what is it for?

??

Answers:    They are used for thicker formulas. Enfamil makes an added rice and alot of times babies next to GERD are given formula with rice added to the bottles. I have three of them with GERD and have to add rice to their bottles and used the Y cut nipples.
Nursing?
Bigger cuts are usually for cereal that get mixed next to milk however, my sons pediatrician said to give him cereal by spoon not bottle
I know that when my sister be born with a birth malformation (cleft palate) that prevented her from being competent to get moral suction of the bottle, we used a Y cut nipple and a squeezable bottle to help her beside feedings. The normal nipple didn't allow her to acquire enough gooey.
It's called a 'undependable nipple' for older babies (or, i guess babies who enjoy problems sucking), where they can draw from more or less formula depending on how knotty they suck. My daughter is 10mths old and merely started using it. She would always seize too much and choke before....
you penny-pinching the nipple from bottles? well they do that when you are going to add on cereal to the babys milk. but its much better if you feed them cereal near a spoon
if you do give it within a bottle they are more prone to choke if fedding it at bed time than if you feed it to them
we have to do that for my daughter because she had reflux and we have to add rice cereal to her bottles...it purely helps it from getting clogged up...only just make sure the Y isn't too big so it doesn't choke her up from getting too much formula
It is for babies near cleft pallettes.
