Medicaid reimbursement ?

When my daughter was born, she wasn't covered by any insurance, so at the 7 days old check up I had to pay a pediatrician for the visit in the hospital plus a week check up fee( ~ $350). Then at 1 month old again I paid the fee( $90).Now we got medicaid, and I know they can reimburse the paid amount. I called Medicaid, and they said that I shouldn't;t have paid, then they would paid for it. And now I just have to let it go. You think there is a way to get my money back( I'm all in debts after the delivery)? Can pediatrician do sth? Any other ideas?

Answer:
Medicaid will not reimburse u but IF the doctor bills them for the services u paid cash for, Medicaid will pay the doctors and u can get a refund from the MD's office. If they refuse to file Medicaid, talk to your caseworker.. Medicaid is real good for telling people NOT to pay beforehand knowing good and well that MD's require money up front...
I also have Medicaid and have never heard of them reimbursing. Are you sure they even do it? I think you might just be out of luck. Sorry.
Yeah, I don't know what state you live in but here in Georgia Medicaid can go back and pay for medical expenses up to 3 months PRIOR to medicaid coverage. Maybe it's not like that in all states but I did it with a $200+ doctor bill for my son this past summer. I would call and ask again to make sure but I think they will go back and pay.
Medicaid will not reimburse you
they do it but it goes back three mths..i am also on that...helps alot!
well I am sorry but I think that you are out of luck. I know they do pay for unpaid bills for up to 3 months but that is the thing it is un paid bills. If your hospital bills ( from delivery) are not fully paid make sure they do that for you.

Good Luck

Ps. talk to your case worker to make sure.
They won't... The way they look at it is, if you had the money to pay for it, then they shouldn't have to pay you back for it. You can try calling around, but I don't think it will help... Unless maybe the pediatrician said you had to pay up front for services - then you obviously had to pay... Sounds like an uphill battle to me, good luck!
i have medicaid and they cover from the time the baby is born but they will only cover unpaid medical bills from the date of birth your ped should have told you that..you can file a grievance but that will not get you anywhere.Ask the ped to file a claim and reiburse you the difference medicaid doesn't pay the same as you pay..so there will be a diference but at least you will have some money back.
