Curious about the diet of an 8 month old?
I would just like to compare my sons diet to an average 8 month old.
I'm curious about specifics, please don't tell me just to feed him until he is no longer hungry. My son is on medication that makes him gain weight, and I'm just curious if he is eating more then normal or if he is eating a normal amount and gaining weight from the medicine.
I have discussed this with his doctors I'm just wondering what parents have to say.
Answer:
My baby girl is 8 1/2 months old, and she normally eats a 5 oz bottle when she first wakes up in the morning (between 7-8 am), then she'll have a bowl of baby cereal (she loves her mixed cereals and fruits that Nestle makes) at around 11:30 am...she'll have some chicken, rice and vegetable stew (a bowl) that I've homemade and pureed with a blender around 2:30 - 3:00 pm, some pureed fruit at around 5:00 with another 2-3 oz of formula...and her last bottle of the day is right before bed at about 8:30...it's 7 oz, but she never finishes the whole thing - she usually leaves about 1-2 oz. I hope this helps :) Oh, and she's in the 50% for both weight and height!
At eight months, they should still be eating primarily breast milk (or formula) and any solid foods you give them are for practice.
I think at that age my daughter would eat a squished banana for breakfast (after being nursed) and a pureed fruit and a starch (cereal, etc.) for lunch (after being nursed) and a pureed fruit and a veggie for dinner (after being nursed) with nursing in between.
Most of his calories, though, should be coming from breastmilk or formula. You can't overfeed a breastfed baby.
