IfBCG goes deeper in baby's body (age:1 week) and not interdemally? Could it cause TB? Is BCG live or dead vac
Answer:
are you talking about a mantoux test (for tuberculosis)? why is your baby having this test so early? if you are talking about a TB test, it will make no difference how deep the injection went. the components are dead, and the only difference would be how shallow or deep the reaction would be if it were positive. but a TB test is not a vaccine. it only tests for TB, it doesn't protect a person from TB.
if you are talking about the immune globulin shot that will offer some protection against TB, that one isn't supposed to be given intradermally, although, it probably won't make much of a difference. that shot is not a vaccine, either, but rather a temporary protection against TB infection. there are no live TB components in the immune globulin shot, just antibodies.
